- We have just returned from a weeks all inclusive break at the monika holiday resort. We really enjoyed it!!
The pool is fantastic! it's huge and has lots of different areas to it. One for toddlers, with see saw and ride on toys, one for older kids with slides and a small tube slide and deeper areas for swimmers with a swin up bar. We had no problem finding a sun bed and the poolside is cleaned everyday and is not opened until around 9.30am which meant no-one could reserve beds until this time. loads of sunbeds - brilliant!
there is also a small kids play park and a small soft play area that ours loved.
Most people staying in the hotel were spanish and we only met about 4 other english families! The entertainment is mostly spanish with a bit of english interpritation! We thought this was nice as it made us feel more on holiday!!!!
The hotel is about a 3 min walk from a small beach with a few restaurants and shops and a market on some days. but if you want to find more hustle and bustle there is a free bus that goes twice a day to other hotels in the chain some of which are in the centre of Benidorm. We did this one day and it worked a treat! otherwise Benidorm is only about 5 mins away in a taxi or the bus stops just down the road.
The food was fresh, not always labelled which was a bit annoying!! there is always a salad bar, chips and pasta or rice and then about 5 main dishes that change everyday. the puddings I found disapointing as they were alays some kind of gateaux with a different coloured topping and tasted the same to me!
The drinks tasted good to us! pepsi did not taste watered down.... If you want the labelled spirits you can pay extra for a GOLD CARD I think it's 6 euros per day, but we stuck with the local stuff and had no worries at all!!
We stayed in block 4. right next to the entertainment. I have to say it was VERY LOUD!!! however, we watched most of it anyway and it stopped at midnight and then it was very quiet as they move all remaining people away!
We did have a wait to check in, reception always seemed to be very busy, the staff were very nice though.
Our room was nice, it was clean and air conditioned - it was a bit dated but was nice non the less. we had a one bed appartment and our 2 kids had the bedroom which left us with the sofa bed which was very uncomfortable!!!! really needed a new matteress!!! ah well! you can't have it all!!
The building is very high, 22 floors i think, if you dont like heights, i would suggest a mid or lower floor!
All in all, we had a great holiday, and would go back again. Great for families!!!!! « less

- I have just returned fron the magic monika after a week stay with a large group, the reason this hotel was chosen was its facilities to train under cover.
First night the door key did not work floor 13, went to get another one, then the light card did not work, down again for another one, next day no water went to see reception who always responded very quickly with any problems and were very helpful and apologietic, sent plumber, the drip turned into a trickle. Hired a safe the batteries had run out, next day complained again about the water, and safe, safe fixed, water turned into a drip again.
By the fourth day we had had enough of the water situation, my partner went down to reception who were surprised we were still in there as they had to take part of the wall out to fix and we should of been moved previous day. First room was clean but dated, second room on 15 th floor had been decorated and had new furniture, all problems solved.
Food was quite good, we did have an incident of cat poo in the restaurant tho.
All inclusive is not all inclusive, rip off, watered down beer and local spirits, and for non drinkers coke of lemonade, any other non alcholic drinks you had to up grade card for a price of 12 euros a day. Beware they have a self service bar for after hours and the kids can get in to it, saw many a kid in a state because of it.
Pool area fantastic for kids not for relaxin or sunbathin, crammed sardines, but it was august, tiles missing all over the place and surrounding pool area extremely slippy.
This hotel is fantastic if you are spanish.......or family on a budget with children and want to stay in hotel for entire holiday.
Facilities for kids second to none had none myself but were a few in our party never saw them unless they wanted something.
It could be a fab place if they just spent some money on it looked at the all inclusive rules, staff were brill hotel let the holiday down. « less

- Sounded great and ended up being OK. Highlights were the childrens club & animation staff (Jose & Sammie) along with most of the bar staff. Lowlights were the rooms & 2nd class Brits. - loads of Spanish there and met a few nice ones that we socialised with but some ignorant ones and staff seemed to feel that they were somewhat better. Block 4 noisy as next to entertainment but it did close sharp midnight. Problems with fridge - change after attempting a fix, power - failed & then no cooking (did not need), Air con (one room only) failed and we had to change rooms which spoiled a night. All these problems were addressed by staff - no compensation or goodies however.
Summary - The place is fine, good for kids (pool especially)but needs some money spent on it, Would not be surprised if not renovated in the next couple of years rather that wait for breakdowns - if going you will have to be prepared to complain to get our way but should enjoy your stay, « less

- Stayed at magic monika last week in may. Had a great stay, with my mother, 3 yr old son and 16 yr old daughter. This was the best all inclusive hotel i have ever stayed in benidorm and i have been lots of times. The food was always fresh and varied. The entertainment was a little grim but because the hotel doesnt officially start the season until june so beware of that. There were only a few bars open but didnt matter to us because the hotel was pretty empty at that time of year. All the hotel bars were due to open the week after we left. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the kids club ran from 11am til 1pm and then from 3pm until 7pm. After that the kids disco started at 8pm so plenty for the little ones. Also a park and a very good kids area in the pool. Dont stay here if you want to be central to benidorm its a 20 min bus ride to benidorm centre, which we loved because we wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle. Cant realy fault this hotel, if anything the roomsare a little dated but very spacious and clean. the cleaners came every day including sunday. we were advised by the security guard to avoid peak season has it gets very packed and cues are likely. all in all a great family hotel just outside benidorm. used the free bus a few times but the num 41 and 12 bus run every 10 mins into benidorm the last 1 back is 10.30pm. The outdoor market next to the hotel on a friday is a must, plenty of cheap things to buy. i got 1kg of strawberries for a euro :) « less

- just came back on 20th june from two fab weeks at the Magic Monika. First time going as all inclusive as normally go halfboard. Area of hotel is lovely but not many shops or bars if you wanted to drink out, but lovely all the same. Beach only a 5-10 min walk from hotel just turn right outside main entrance and follow road round. We found the hotel spotless all day and night and rooms spotless and spacious too. We did find the lifts a little slow at times mainly in the morning thou, so if you happen to be say on the 22nd floor, well its a long walk down. They have 3 lifts per block but only 6 people at a time plus they do forever break down but they do fix them promptly. Food lovely and plenty of it, sometimes a little repetative but you can always use the snack bar for a little alternative. we did find the drinks machines in both restaurant and snackbar forever out of service and they didnt rush to sort them out. Also they need to have signs put on the larger tables stating 6 or more only as some inconsiderate people of 4 would take up a whole table seated for 10 which is unfair as we was a group of 8. More highchairs needed with safety harnesses as some were not on or snapped they only seem to have about 6.
The daytime activities are great but found this to be the only hotel that allows children to join in with the adults when normally its from either 14 or 16. Chris from Blackpool England is great (team member) the best out of all he made us feel welcome. Nightime entertainment isn't great but Chris does his best with the resources he has, they dont have many acts on,only time we saw 3 in one night was when directors from other Magic hotels came to view and they put on a good show but next day was back to normal leaving poor Chris to have to do all the entertainment.
The free Magic bus is a bonus as it goes to all hotels in chain one after other we ate in most of them apart from Rock Gardens. It takes about 10 mins to first hotel in old town then into new town (levante beach) area. It takes about 50 mins to walk as we did it just a little tiring in the heat..but still enjoyable.
If you go to the Villa benidorm one of hotels in chain well the road just at the side of the main entrance has a shop on the corner at bottom (sells beer, spirits etc..) it does a good exchange rate (116) when we were there but (92) in hotel they are English too. Shop prices cheaper inland rather than front beach area.
Will we be going back......Most definately as the hotel is fab and facilities and pool great dispite the lack of entertainment in evening...9/10 Oh if you play archery watch for the bow string hitting your arm as they didnt have a protective arm strap and I had a severe nasty bruise after it and didnt play it again.. « less
