- Spent two nights at the Hotel Rio Vista in July. We were greeted warmly and processed quickly. The room overlooked the river--they say all rooms do. We had only decaf coffee for in room coffee pot and I went to desk to get regular. Clerk apologized and gave me two packages of regular. Opened the sliding door to get fresh air and listen to the river while we slept. There is a screen door, but it does not lock. We were not concerned about our safety in that location but would not leave door open while out of the room. There is a nice bakery next door. Grab some scones and go back to your room to eat on your deck. Bakery is popular and scones sell out. The breakfast sandwiches and quiche are really good too. I had trouble with the wireless at hotel. I was unable to download some files I needed for work but the rest of the services worked. I ran next door to bakery, drank coffee (have to buy something) and downloaded all files from there. Was a bit inconvenient but worked out fine. The hotel is close to everything. We were attending a function at the Barn and were able to walk, so no issues about driving after a couple of beers on a really hot day. « less

- We travelled to Winthrop for the Blues Festival and wanted a central hotel to walk to everything as we were on motorbikes. Lots of parking and easy access to downtown, restaurants and liqour store next to hotel. The room was clean and great beds and big bathroom. The decks on the back are awesome and you hear the river run all night.
Anne was great at the front desk and was very helpful with any request.
We love Winthrop and would stay at this hotel again anytime. « less

- We were planning to use the Hot tub and look out on the River, but when we saw the green scum around the edge of tub, we all got grossed out and decided to stay out of it. So sad, since that is the only amenity the hotel has. View of the river is nice, and all the rooms have a nice view. There was also complimentary internet access « less

- I stayed at the Hotel Rio Vista during the off-season in Wintrhop. Not much was going on with the town, but by far the best experience of the trip was the hotel. Hotel Rio Vista is located right along the main drag of town, adjacent to the Duck Brand Restaurant. From the outside the hotel looks like one of those old-timey saloons, and inside the rooms look out toward the river. I stayed in a 2 queen bedroom for $85 a night. The room had a mini-fridge, sink, and plenty of table top space for coffee maker. The bed was comforable, and it was nice hearing the water from the river. I used their hot tub on their main floor and enjoyed that. The hot tob is quite large, and I'm sure it's used to holding many skiers.
The staff were very friendly and I strongly recommend this hotel. « less

- We have stayed at this place previously in a standard room with two queen beds and found it to be uncomfortably small. On the recent stay, we selected the Deluxe King room which is spacious with a full-size sofa, two chairs, a small table, and a kitchen area with microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker.
The feature we enjoyed most was the large private balcony overlooking the river that runs through town.
The folks who manage the place are delightful, but they don't offer much in the way of special services.
The decor is mom-and-pop country, which is appropriate for the setting.
We have stayed most every place in Winthrop and the surroundings, and this place suits us best. « less
