- Nothing in this hotel could explain the 2 star rating. The room was dirty, there were no thin curtains that would allow for privacy, yet for air to come in when the windows are open. The bathroom was dirty, the caulk almost all gone, leaving moss to grow around the bathtub. The sheets were burned by cigarettes, though in the heat wave they were not necessary except to protect ourselves from peeping eyes from the building across. The blue neon light of the hotel sign lit the room until past midnight. Loud music from cars parked outside and loud voices prevented us from falling asleep, and when asleep, would wake us up. Free breakfast tempting anyone? I wouldn't even feed that to homeless people. It was such a filthy room that I did not even dare take off my shoes, though I couldn't say that the bed would have been any cleaner given the state of the sheets. The reception was less than appropriate, not even a simple "bonjour", and when we turned in the key before going out of the hotel, the same receptionist was more busy chatting with a girlfriend about personal issue to even acknowledge us. I chose this hotel because it was close to the University II of Lyon, but I would not, and cannot even recommend this hotel to my students, let alone friends and family, for whom I was scouting potential hotels and restaurants. TripAdvisor requires that I check at least one "circle" but in my mind, it's not even worth that. If you want good value for your money, there are better hotels in better neighborhoods for about the same price. « less

- I stayed here for a week with a group from Uni and although the reviews on here were mixed, I had an open mind. However, the hotel was a dump.
It's located in a busy area and as other reviewers note, is like little Algeria. If you are looking for a massive choice of kebab shops on the doorstep, and don't mind the groups of men and youths who hang about outside them (greasily ogling the women as they walk past), shouting and spitting, then book yourself in!
The hotel lobby (and website come to that) are deceptive. There is a pleasant reception area with marble, stone, wood etc, which I liken to a venus fly trap - looks good from the outside, but once you're in.....
The hotel's rooms are tired, worn and dirty. All along the carpet edges, both in and out of the rooms, are uniform lines of dust, where I assume an ancient, asthmatic vacuum cleaner cannot reach, or the maid cannot be bothered to tackle. The bedlinen was unexpectedly fine, and helped to disguise the banana-shaped bed, however, the walls are paper thin so sleep isn't easy (unless you've already had a few glasses of wine to numb the shock of your room).
The TV in the room, helpfully mounted at neck-cricking height, does not receive English language channels and there is no safe in the room. I had nowhere to keep my laptop, but put it under the bed as it was clear from the amount of dust that no-one ever went under there.
The bathroom had a shower, which extended from a mixer tap. Unfortunately, for those of us who are taller than 12 inches, this is useless as there is no shower curtain or rail, and no hook to hold the shower head on. Toilet paper is on rations too!
Although I took my cards and Euros out with me every day, I left a couple of £10 pound notes and some change on the side. This stayed put for a couple of days, but the notes left of their own accord on the third day. This was reported to reception, but the hotel wasn't in the least bothered - no-one offered any apologies, even when I first reported it to reception. i was not the only person in the group who had money stolen.
Except for a croissant, breakfast was poor - lukewarm coffee, jugs of milk that had skin like a rice pudding and hard baguette. The group breakfasts are held in a room out the back - its the one pictured on the website that looks like a nice restaurant, with a cheery barman and stocked bar, except it isn't like that at all.
Do yourself a favour - the hotel isn't cheap by other European city standards - stay ANYWHERE other than this. « less

- Nothing much to say about this hotel. I was looking for a cheap place to get post-flight rest before heading to Paris. It fits the bill. Probably not the ideal for older travelers or single women, but for this big guy it was a good night`s rest on the cheap.
The bed was okay. The bathroom didn't look all that clean, with mildew spots everywhere and a hanger missing for the hand shower. But to just get some sleep, and perhaps head out for dinner through the easy access to the metro, just fine. Wifi worked great though, which was a pleasant surprise. « less

It is OK as a basic option when you need a cheap room close to the city centre. It is in an area with many Algerians and doesn't feel very safe to be around at night.
I slept OK, the roomwas old, basic, but did the job.
The breakfast was good. It was included and good value becauseof this. Plenty toeat and a good start to the day.
Not my favourite hotel, but acceptable for ashort time.
Oh, the internet is wifi and 5 euro for 24 hours, not real fast, 1 mb down and almost zero up, but having a connection was good.. « less
