- This was my third stay here. They have some good internet prices and due to being renovated a year ago, it's a nice hotel.
The staff have always been pleasant and helpful.
The rooms are functional and modern. The beds have duvee'sand are really comfortable. The mattresses are great.
Perrache is not a good area of Lyon, but it is very close to the railway station and also the centre of Lyon is very close and easy to get to by the Metro at just 1.60euro.
The breakfast was only one euro extra when booking online. It is a typical french breakfast and a good start to the day.
And the wifi internet is free and works well!!! « less

- My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in Lyon having stayed at this hotel. The rooms were clean and of a good size and were comfortable. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful; the cold buffet breakfast set us up for the day; our room had a very good view of the Rhone. The Hotel is about 5 minutes walk to Perrache station where you can connect with local trains, TGV, trams, buses and metro.
We had heard that the hotel was in the middle of the red-light area but we never saw any of that; presumably that was furrther down the Presquile in the industrial area. In fact, my wife commented that Lyon was the only city she had ever been in where she felt completely safe; the people were just so nice. « less

- I stayed at Hotel Kyriad as part of a European tourist class bus tour. Although I was only there a night... that was enough. The room was tiny and smelled of smoke, the bathroom was even smaller and nearly impossible to function in, and the elevator was so small only one person and their luggage could comfortably get inside (Not for the weary of small spaces). The staff did seem friendly and the location was decent as we were able to walk to the city centre to have a wonderful meal in one of the many restaurants. I do not consider myself some that requires luxury accomodations. I did not feel that this establishment was up to the standard of all the other hotels and countries we travled to. I would not stay in this hotel ever again.

- The hotel is not as bad as the other reviewers suggest. I didn't expect it to be 5 star but did expect it to be a fairly standard, cheap, clean hotel as part of a chain. Which it was! Similar to Travelodge in the UK.
The rooms had everything you need for a short stay. In our case, twin beds which were requested at the desk, TV, largeish bathroom with shower, bath, toilet etc. Tea making facilities. I found the staff friendy and accommodating when getting back in to the hotel in the early hours of the morning. I think the majority of rooms have an excellent view of the river. Ours did. As for remarks about the vans on the street. I didn't see the problem. A few vans parked up on the street belonging to the shops next to the hotel. Where else are they meant to park?! This is Lyon city centre of course.
The only slight draw back was the 5 minute walk to Perrache metro station with our luggage.
All in all a good hotel. « less

- Apporaching this hotel we were intrigued at the number of van's with red lights on the side of the road however our intrigue turned to shock as we realised that this hotel is right in the middle of all these vans. Two girls travelling in our early twenties, we did not feel safe stepping outside the door of the hotel after dark for fear of what might happen in such a shady area.
The hotel was actually reasonably clean, although the air coniditioning was difficult to work, and although the temperature was sitting around 0* outside, it was somewhere up around 30*C inside. Perhaps I'm just being fussy now, but I found the bed attrocious (spongy, and lumpy all at teh same time), and this combined with the heat inside did not make for a wonderful night's sleep.
We did not have much dealings with the staff as we were travelling in a tour group however it was obvious their English was good enough for us to get by communicating.
Breakfast the next morning was disgusting though. THere was an allocated one croissant per person, and cereal was to be eaten from a mug. This was it. I understand that continental breakfasts vary from place to place, but this could hardly even be called a breakfast.
All up this hotel was clean enough, but I wouldn't recommend venturing far from the doors at nights simply becuase of it's location.
