- We needed a place to stay for one night before early morning flights. We decided to stay near the train station so we could catch the shuttle bus to the airport. We literally got into this place at night and left first thing in the morning - it was very convenient. If you want to be near the train station, the location is great - if you want to sight see, this is not the best neighborhood- as nothing else is near the hotel. The room was small, but modern (I was actually pleasantly surprised by the decor) and clean. The bathroom is teeny - it looks like you are on a ship - but it was very clean and served its purpose. It would be hard to find a cheaper room - and for what it is, this hotel delivers - a clean, inexpensive place to sleep near the train station. « less

- At the last minute my fiancée and I needed a room in Lyon close to the Gare Part Dieu. We are on our way to Venice and had a change in travel plans. Other hotels in this price range around the area were booked full so we chose Premiere Class Lyon at 90 USD for the night. I had read many of the reviews on this hotel so I knew what to expect. Close to the Gare, check. Small room, check. Smaller bathroom, check. Clean, check. Nothing was really a surprise at all. Our main concern was that for such a tiny room at the rate charged they should've included a few more amenities. I am not talking luxury items here. Things like a phone, hello. Or maybe a bar of soap at the sink. A hand towel to dry the hands you washed with no soap. A bath mat and maybe a hair dryer would've been nice as well. Come to think of it, these things are really more like necessities to us.
We do understand this is a budget hotel, and maybe it's because I'm American, but some of these items should be included in a room at 90 USD a night. To answer the question would I recommend this hotel to a friend, the answer is no. But if you really need a room close to the Gare that's clean and has a bed in it and not much more, then this is the place for you. It's not a bad place, but a few small items would have been greatly appreciated. While I am thinking about it I will add that they do have free wi-fi. That was a nice touch, but a few more would've really made our stay a lot better. « less

- Firstly, this is not the best place to stay in Lyon if you want to experience Le Vieux Lyon. Hotel Premiere Classe is on the wrong side of Lyon. There's nothing much to see here. Nonetheless, it is near to Carrefour and more importantly, Gare Part Dieu, abt 600m walk or so.
The staff aren't exactly the most polite in the world but professional and aren't arrogant. Rooms are clean. The moment you step out of the corridor you'd be greeted with the mild smell of disinfectant. (At least, you can be sure the sheets are clean)
Impt thing to note: the bathrooms are tiny - about the size of an aircraft commode, so you'd end up knocking the walls of the bathroom quite frequently when you shower.
Wifi is free. Overall a very basic hotel which I might want to stay at again, if only for the price. « less

- 1.The location was OK, but not great. It is not in the center of town, but is a 10-minute walk south of Part Dieu station. This is a modern commercial area. I chose this location as I wanted a place close to the station. From the Part Dieu station, you could take the tram or the subway to the center of the city (or you could walk in 20-30 minutes). There was a large American-style shopping mall across the street from Part Dieu station, with a large Carrefour store. Good for people who want to be relatively close to the station, but far from the center of the city.
2. The price was reasonable. Lyon is quite expensive. I got a reasonably good rate on a large internet site.
3. The hotel was a modern business-style hotel and was next to the train tracks. Small functional lobby, clean, and modern.
4. The ensuite room was a bit larger than average in France. Very modern, simple, clean and functional. Flat screen TV (no English-language channels). Individually-controlled A/C, which was a godsend, as it was hot in Lyon when I was there (early June). My room looked out over the train tracks, but there was no noise, due to the double-paned windows. The toilet and shower were in a plastic “unit”. The shower in particular, was extremely narrow, with the handle at elbow-height (guaranteed that your elbow will hit the hot water lever). But that is a minor complaint.
5. The front staffers were efficient, friendly and spoke English. « less
