- Upon arrival our foom was not ready this was after 6pm. After waiting about 40 min we were shown to our room, this was disappointing as we had no balcony only a walk way with a small table outside the front door. the room seemed very dark as the pool view outdside the door had a huge tree blocking the light, we did ask for another room but was told there was none. After a few days we got used to the room we opened the windows and front door to let the light in. The room was very large and not all that bad after all, this was room 42. After seeing photos of other rooms I think ours was one of the best.
The pool was the best one I saw after looking at the pools at other hotels. The beach was on your doorstep with free padded sunloungers and parasols, you did have to be up about 7.30am to get one, we always got one on the day we wanted whether it was around the pool or on the beach.
The planes are very scary the are so low and are constantly flying over the hotel, someone mentioned they stop at midnight but I was awakened around 2.00am with such a fright with the roar of another aircraft flying over the hotel.
The breakfast was not that good although they did have a 2 slice toaster, they could have done with a larger one, but I was happy to have toast and cereal for breakfast. The staff were very nice. The drinks and daytime meals were expensive and we found out the day we were coming home the drinks in the hotel next door were half the price.
On the Sunday before we were due home on the Tuesday i had a bad fall down some unlit stairs, 2 of the reception staff were finishing their shift ands saw me fall they came back and were very helpful and concerned (Sara and her male friend I don't know his name) they helped me to my room and wanted to call the dr, I refused and they brought a bucket of ice for the large bump on my head and my swollen foot. I found out later the next day after visiting the clinic in Fira I had actually broken my wrist too.
This accident was a shame as my husband and I were really enjoying this very relaxing holiday.
I couldn't fault the staff at this hotel they were all very nice.
Getting a taxi seems to take forever, apparently there are only 36 taxis on the island and with holidaymakers constantly arriving there are not enough taxis.
It was only about 10 to 15 mins walk to the main beach resort in Kamari. If you walked along the beach it was about 5 mins, but i wouldn't do this at night.
It was our first visit to Greece and Santorini and I wouldn't go back again, although it is a beautiful picturesque place Oia and Fira have spectacular views and are a must, but Santorini is quite an expensive place. « less

- The only positive thing I can say about this nasty little hotel is that they know how to pick a good photographer for their website.
Situated literally at the end of the Airport run way, with flights coming in every 40 -50 minutes probably 200m above the roof of the rooms. Whilst they don't fly after midnight, they do start up early morning, and annoy through out the day.
The Staff are brusque and grumpy, and clearly used to handling compaints...and then ignoring them.
The food was at best inedible, and choice non existant, and really unimaginative - I would suggest if you must stay here, you do bed and breakfast (breakfast is also awful) only as there is a wealth of good food along the promenade.
The room was awful, plastered in blue paint head to toe, everything even the door jambs had been slapped with it. We paid an extra £300 for a suite - which was a 6ft by 10ft porch/hallway which no one would enjoy sitting in. The room was grubby and the beds were uncomfortable - I am 6ft 2 and the beds were built for someone much shorter so with planes, grubbiness and bad bed - neither me or my partner were happy.
Additionally, at my head, all night was an air conditioning unit blasting (less than 2 ft away) freezing air into my face and neck which left me very stiff and uncomfortable by the morning - I expect that this fact alone would breach a health and safety check.
And then if you went out on the "balcony", the only place to sit was besides the airconditioning unit, which roasted your legs and sides as it spewed hot air at you - with no escape as the balcony is so small. Still ....you always have the opportunity to count airplane registrations to distract you from the discomfort, as they roar overhead!
Suffice to say, we didnt stay long - a Tom, Dick and Harry approach was required. We persuaded Thompsons to move us - which they did. The only amazing thing about this hotel is that it is on thier books at all. And as far as the very suspicious positive reviews on this site about Thalassa - don't believe the hype. « less

- I arrived at the hotel with my boyfriend and upon arrival the receptionist informed us that there was a problem with our suite and that we would have to be moved to a different hotel. 5mins later she comes back and informs us that the room we originally booked is available. After paying for our room, we went to view it. The room was just ridiculous, definitely not what is regarded a junior suite, they had two single beds pushed together, a shower instead of a bath tub and no balcony which totally contradicted the room description mentioned on the site. We then went back to the reception to complain and after an hour of complaining we requested to speak to the manager. We were confronted by a man who had a lot of bad attitude towards us, definitely not the kind expected from a professional manager and he told us that if we didnt like the room, we were to get up and leave. At that point I told him that what he is saying is ridiculous and that is when the man went crazy and he jumped over the reception counter to hit me. im only 20 years old and petite and if my boyfriend and other hotel staff had not intervened and held him back i believe i would have been badly hurt. In the end i had to go the police and file a suit against him because never in my life have i been spoken to or treated in that way! « less

- I stayed at this hotel for a week with my boyfriend and we were both very pleased with it! The room was great, clean and very big, with a nice view over the pool. The staff was always smiling and eager to help us. The pool was big and always clean. All meals were very tasty and the service was fast. The noise from the airport wasn't too much and it didn't make our stay unpleasant. I would definitely recommend Thalassa Resort! « less
