- Just going on Trip Advisor ratings we decided to stay at the Atalos Villas. The reviews are spot on! Yannis, the owner is the most welcoming, generous, friendly person, and truly defines Greek hospitality! The room we had was wonderful, with a very comfortable bed, a beautiful pool side patio. The Air Conditioning made the room comfortable cool (which is a must in Santorini), and overall the entire property is clean as can be. The location is on the far side of town which makes it easy to get in and out of, while it is a very short walking distance to the beach, shops, and restraunts. I highly reccomned staying here as it is both a wonderful place to stay as well as an incredible value!
Thanks Yannis!! « less

- We cant speak highly enough of the place in fairness, and had a wonderful week from start to finish - definately recommend !!!
We went for a week from 17-24 Aug 2010 and after emailing Yiannis the day before our arrival as requested, were cordially picked up from the airport. 10mins later and we were at Atalos, brought into the bar and told to chill for 5 mins whilst endulginig in a complimentary ouzo and orange , before being shown a map of the island and given a whistle stop tour of the island and resort by Yiannis, its highlights, distances to and recommmended trips. This giving a good insight of our new destination
Following this rather excellent intro/overview, we were shown to our rooms and then essentially left to our own devices just because everything is set up so well from the outset. Yes, Yiannis is a busy man as you will see when you stay there, but always there to assist , give guidance on tours and rental and just generally sort any problems, which we had none whilst we stayed there, just a completely relaxed and stress free holiday from start to finish - which we are all after at the end of the day..............you have everything you want in your room from dinky cooking hob sat on a single fridge /freezer (which is good for storing your 90-120 euro a cans of mythos in) should you feel the need ), recessed key lock safe in the wall, power shower and cool balcony area to dry and chill out on ) - makes a good spot to eat brekky and have a few games of scrabble - these are cleaned daily and you cant fault the rooms - they do what they say on the tin for the amount of time you actually spend in them )
The 4 euro per person brekky is fine and sets you up for the day, and though we sampled it, there is nothing finer than going DiY, cranking up the double hob in the room and knocking up some scrambled eggs, with ham and cheese/tomatoes etc, all available via the shops about 400m down the lane down to the beach. Easy )
Location wise you cant beat it , and it is nicely set back away from the sea and promenade etc so you can get a good nights sleep , but within easy walking distance of the main hub of the town , and make sure you explore the back streets away from the front, as there are some cool shops and restaurants here. Classico cafe and nuxtepo were the best restaurants we went to, and barwise ethnic and oxygen were sound - hook for more 60/70 music (far end of prom away from atalos) and splash bar was a laugh later on when the karaoke kicks off
Our days were normally spent down the beach from 10am thro until about 4pm and then back upto the pool for the last couple of hours to chill in the quality pool and jacuzzi and cool down after the beach. The breeze as most people have said is usually there and is v deceptive , but the sea is glorious and as you get to the promenade with the shop on the corner, either head to the left hand beach in front of splash bar to the better surf, or further down to the right along the promenade, as straight on its treachorous getting into the sea here............... but never fear, slip on sea shoes defo recommended here for about 7 euros from the shops along the prom!!
Defo recommend the boat trip excursion ,where you get picked up in kamari at about 10am, coach upto athinios port, and then onto a pirate style vessel over to caldera/volcano , up and around the active volcano (take your sturdy shoes as flip flops aint up to it), back down and around to the hot sulphur springs (nice to jump off the boat and swim for it) - round to thirassia bay and lunch and a chil out on one of the best vistas around !!! well worth a visit this and then over to oia to watch the sunset in glorious technicolor..........mind the 276 steps........its a leg buckler if your not used to it, but you can always get a donkey up there.........some nice bars on the west of the town to watch the sun do its stuff and blow the top off a glas of santorini vino...............back to kamari for 9pm )
All in all a memorable stay, and cant praise yiannis enough for the great set up he has there and would even consider going back on that premise alone
All i can say is dont take my word for it...........book it and see for yourself, you wont regret it

- We stayed for three nights at Atalos Villas in August 2010. We enjoyed the hotel immensely, and would definitely recommend it to any friends who were traveling to Santorini. Kamari Beach is busy with plenty of dining and shopping options, and Atalos Villas is a block or two back from the main strip, so its much quieter which is great. Its only three blocks from the bus station as well, which we used one day to get up to Fira. Really good location overall!
Gianni is awesome - but very busy. I almost felt bad asking him for anything because he works so hard - but honestly, not the worst problem to have! The breakfast he puts out in the morning is awesome - and well worth the 4 euro. Gianni was full of recommendations, and even hooked us up with a rental car that was 10 euro cheaper than any of the others we had found. He also gave us a ride back to the port when we left, free of charge, and a digital postcard CD.
We only booked a double room, but he upgraded us to an apartment. It was really nice for the money, clean and had lots of space. The shower was a traditional showerhead, not the Greek handheld. Our friends stayed in the honeymoon suite and we ourselves spent a lot of time on their balcony, playing cards.
Overall - we had a lovely time at Atalos Villas and will stay there again when we return to Santorini. « less

- This review is for anyone looking to find a clean, pretty hotel with wonderful owners but with particular interest for wheelchair users, the less mobile or even parents with buggies.
I stayed at Atalos with my niece who is confined to a wheelchair. We have travelled to many locations but find it so difficult to find suitable accommodation. When we do they are often large faceless properties and usually come with a very hefty price to pay.
Santorini is quite a hilly island with towns that are loaded with steps but Kamari is very flat so I emailed many properties enquiring about suitable rooms. Yannis replied promptly offering a ground floor room at an exceptional price which also included transfers to and from the airport and complimentary breakfast. Amazing!
I advised him that the free transfer was very welcome but that it may not be suitable if it was in a minibus. Jayne would not be able to transfer into a bus as she was unable to walk or even stand so we would take a taxi but he replied that it would be no problem. I was a bit apprehensive as I was not sure if he understood her degree of disability and on arrival he met us with his minibus. He then produced a small stool to help Jayne climb into the bus but I explained this was impossible. As I’d feared my explanation of her problems had been lost in translation. However after assuring us he would find a way he disappeared only to return with a friend and they both lifted Jayne, still in her chair, directly into the boot. We both laughed our heads off as we set off for the short drive to the hotel. On arrival Yannis again found another friend to lift Jayne safely out of the boot and led us to our room down a step free walkway.
We stayed in Room 39 which had a large bedroom with both a double and single bed and balcony, a small kitchenette with table, chairs and fridge. The bathroom was nicely tiled and had an attached shower unlike the usual Greek hand held nightmares!! The air con was very welcome especially for Jayne and again included in the price!
Irenie and his daughter arrived with a welcome drink and a complimentary 6 pack of water together with a resort map and a brand new book with everything you needed to know about Santorini.
The pool area is lovely with palm trees for natural shade; this can be reached either from the breakfast/bar area which involves having to encounter an odd individual step or through a short flat but cobbled passageway. We found both ways manageable and I have attached pictures for more detail. The sunbeds as usual for most wheelchair users were too low but Yannis was happy for me to stack 3 on top of one another to raise it to an accessible height.
The breakfast was simple but delicious, bread, ham, cheese, jams, fruit, yogurt and honey. I joked with Yannis over breakfast that his yogurt was 10% fat and I usually ate only 2%, he went to the supermarket later and from then on there was also a large tub of 2%.
The resort itself is just a 5 minute stroll down a very slight incline where there are many accessible bars and restaurants. The promenade is long and flat but unfortunately does have a few potholes. Nothing any worse than most places, including our home town, but regrettably on our way home from a great night out the front wheel got stuck in one and Jayne was thrown out of the chair. Sadly her nose was cut very badly but holiday makers and waiters came running from all angles to help. In the panic and the sight of all the blood even an ambulance was called but the paramedics were wonderful. After confirming there was no real damage a few steri strips were placed over her nose and we were able to return to the hotel. We were both quite shaken but after a few painkillers and a days rest the only real problem was that she had to spend the rest of the holiday resembling Adam Ant!!
We knew it was virtually impossible to see the rest of the island because of the difficulty involved travelling around with the wheelchair. We mentioned this to Yannis and despite being extremely busy (it is run solely by himself and his wife with the exception of a chambermaid) he offered to take us out himself on a tour of the island. We would have to leave the wheelchair behind and stay in the car but this at least enabled my niece to see some of the fantastic views and amazing landscapes that make this such a fascinating island. It was a wonderful trip and lasted nearly 2 hours, we were both extremely grateful and after thanking him we requested that he add a charge to our bill.
Yannis and Irenie are both so busy that they are often not around should you want a drink from the bar but you have your own fridge and he is happy that you drink your own supply. However we did have a few drinks and a nice salad during our stay but was always told to pay later so I would reply to put it on the bill.
On the day of departure our flight was very late and Yannis told us not to worry about vacating the room until it was time to depart. Yet another service we were so very grateful for. We requested the bill and were told to forget the price for the trip and all the drinks as he was happy to help my niece see and enjoy his island!!!
For the return transfer Yannis took us in his own car and tied the wheelchair safely into the boot. On arrival at the airport he insisted on loading the luggage trolley and staying with us until we were safely checked in.
I strongly recommend the Atalos, Yannis and Irenie for anyone who appreciates how much an owner is prepared to help make your holiday special without being intrusive. We had a special need but he would be the same kind and helpful person to any of his guests.
We WILL return to Santorini and no doubt there are many, many other good properties but I could not even contemplate staying anywhere else. We really cannot express how much both Yannis and Irenies’ help and welcome made this one of the best holidays we have had.
I would be very happy to answer any questions especially from wheelchair users or the less mobile. « less

- After our trip to Santorini, we had a smile in our face. Next time we´ll book the same hotel in Kamari. The owner and his wife were so nice to us and very helpful. Atalos Villas has a breakfast service for a small rate, if you don´t want to fix your own breakfast in the room. Nice and calm atmosphere in the hotel area and our and the other kids just loved the swimmingpool. You can find a lot of restaurants and minimarkets down to the beach-road, only 200 metres from the hotel. If you wan´t, you can eat in different restaurants every day. We met new friends in Santorini and hope to see them next year again. Thank you Giannis and Irini for a nice holiday / Cecilia Par. « less
