- Don’t believe the negative comments regarding Petros Villas on here. We stayed there for a 7 night trip to the island and were very impressed. Firstly the place is spotless, cleaned every day, white marble stairs gleamed and cleaned daily, although don’t drag your suitcase down them, the younger daughter of Petros has a very unfortunate manner and I got a telling off on arrival for doing so.
Anyhow, the rooms are compact but are fully functional, we were on the lower level which is next to the swimming pool (it’s more like a large bath and personally I don’t know why they bothered!) therefore had use of a large terrace, this area doesn’t get any sun but it’s adequate for sitting out for breakfast or a pre dinner drink. We requested a fridge however there wasn’t one in our room, we shared a large fridge freezer which was located in the communal hallway with 4 other rooms, this was kept clean and was very efficient for freezing ice pack and keeping breakfast items for the morning. The studios have no catering facilities what so ever therefore if you are holidaying on a budget, and I would consider people choosing to stay at Petros Villas would be, then ensure you take along some spoons for yoghurt and knife for fruit. (Santorini and tourist Greece in general are wildly expensive now, especially for us brits!)
As for the rooms being noisy, considering how close the property is to the town it receives no ambient traffic noise however you can hear chairs scraping and doors banging which I find quite typical in this style of marble and brick structure. The bathrooms again are typical of those in Greece with a handheld shower head, no mucky, germ infested shower curtain and a contact supply of hot water.
Pertros himself is a friendly and pleasant character, he even shared some of his homemade wine with us one evening when we returned from dinner! His wife drove us to the airport on our last day to catch our flight saving us the €12 cab fare.
For a cheap stay on an expensive island I would highly recommend this property, of course there are much more luxurious places to stay however for the price I consider this value for money. « less

- We stayed here 2 nights in feb. The heater was not very effective, and we scoured the place for extra blankets, it basically felt like camping. The next day, while our room was cleaned, the heater was turned off. Thank goodness we stopped in during the day or we would have frozen for a second night.
The family who runs it is kind, and they drove us to and from the airport at no charge.
The rooms are clean, if a little bare (and threadbare!). Showering is an experience as there is no shower curtain, the entire bathroom turns into a stall.
There is a small fridge in the room which is good for keeping food as breakfast is not provided.
Location is great, just off the main square. « less

- By far the worst room I have ever stayed. Stinking of cigarette smoke, too warm for the summer and no balcony, only a small window which faced the opposite rooms to let so everyone could see you if you left it open.
There was nowhere to dry our swimsuits or towels as the only washing lines on the pension front were filled with the pension towels and pillowcases and they didn't even have clothes-pegs.
The bathroom was tiny and had no shower curtain and no ventilation whatsoever. During our stay I don't think the floor ever dried at all. (imagine how hygienic this must be). There was no staff if you needed something and the work was done by the untrained, under aged child of the family.
We unfortunately paid 70euro for the peak period of August but it was extraordinarily steep price to pay for what it offered. I assure you it wasn't even worth 20euro
These people should be reported as I don't think they even qualify for the pension category! « less

- The rooms are "Spartan" (its not Sparta its Santorini I heard somebody say :-) ) but if you want a cheap room (I paid 30 Euros per night) only 100 yards from the center of the main town (Thira) in Santorini then this is the place for you. The accomodations are very basic but the bathroom is clean, the water his hot, the air-conditioner works, there is a little fridge and TV in the room. The owner will pick you up in his van for free from the airport or port and the owner's wife took me to the airport at 6:20 in the morning for free as well.
If all you care about is location and price - this is the place. By contrast, staying at the nice hotels only 100 yards away will cost you 300 euros per night - a big difference.
The owner owns two other small hotels but they were much nicer (beautiful pools and rooms and views) and he will find something that fits your budget. He is clearly trying to capture the entire price segment of the market. « less
