Location. Named after the tall Casuarina trees that grace Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands, The Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa stands across the street from championship golf links at Safehaven.
Hotel Features. Caribbean/Cuban fine dining is highlighted at Casa Havana, where monthly wine dinners feature a selection of 330 wines. Innovative dishes include foie gras flamed in Cuban rum. Ferdinand's Caribbean Café provides bold décor and an ocean-view deck where fare includes parmesan-encrusted swordfish. Mulitple open-air restaurants and bars complete this resort's roster of tropical dining choices. Business services, flexible conference space and wireless Internet access accommodate corporate agendas. The resort's 700- foot-wide beachfront extends 150 feet to the turquoise Caribbean, providing uncrowded lounge-chair sunbathing. A palm-dotted courtyard contains a twin-sided pool spanned by a bridge that leads to the beach. Completing the mirror-image courtyard are eight-person, blossom-shaped spa tubs. A 7,000-square-foot health spa includes a hydrotherapy room with Vichy shower and a couples room with a large spa tub, twin tables and tea candles. Men's and women's areas include large saunas and steam rooms. The fitness center contains cardio and weight machines, and free weights. For an additional fee, The Westin Kids Club offers supervised activities.

Guestrooms. This resort provides 343 air-conditioned, non-smoking guestrooms in a five-story dove-gray building with turquoise roofs. Richly designed rooms feature Westin's signature Heavenly Bed and Bath. The bed includes a custom-designed pillowtop mattress with a gold-checkered down comforter topped by five pillows. The bath features a dual showerhead with multiple spray options, bathrobes, oversized towels and designer toiletries. Additional features include balconies or patios, ceiling fans, and minibars. High-speed Internet access and cable/satellite television are added guestroom features.

Expert Tip. The property's health spa offers a unisex lounge where herbal teas, fruits and snacks are served. Guests can completely unwind in heated, vibrating throne chairs while they receive nail care services.

I enjoyed my stay at The Westin on Seven Mile Beach. Upon arrival we were upgraded to rooms next to the hot tub. Perfect location. Three steps outside and you are at the hot tub. (Rooms 186 & 188)There was not much noise despite being so close to the pool. The rooms are comfy and nice. There are several exit doors around the hotel which made it easier to reach our rental car, which we rented right there at the hotel. At 6 pm every nite they offer complimentary Rum Punch and Fruit Punch near the bar. This is not announced but we discovered it anyway. They do not offer complimentary breakfast but do have an amazing Sunday Brunch that is worth the $15 easy.
The ladies who cleaned my room were very friendly and helpful. The gift shops are nice and have plenty of souvenoirs to choose from. There is a reef off the beach in front of the hotel that we snorkeled. I thought the snorkeling was excellent. It's a little deep but you can still see all kinds of fish life. They have cabanas on the beach you can rent for $50 a day, we passed. They have different kinds of water equipment available for renting. It must be returned that day. There are different tours available down at the beach, too. I did not dine at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. We did however eat across the street at Eats Cafe several times and always enjoyed our meal and it was reasonably priced. The attraction I most enjoyed was our trip with Fat Fish Adventures on waverunners. They picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off at the end of the day. We rode out to Stingray City and had an amazing time. We also snorkeled and enjoyed a full day of fun with Peter. I highly recommend him. My stay here was quiet, which I loved. They play music at the pool but it is not too loud. I was a little annoyed at the kids throwing footballs in the pool. They kept splashing us while sitting at the swim up bar. I didn't bother complaining, they were just trying to have fun too. Don't expect to pay less than $8.50 for an alcoholic drink, but they do pack a punch. « less
