- We were pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the rooms. Nicely decorated, with a fully-equipped kitchen and in-room laundry. Two-minute walk (and no streets to cross!) from room to 7 Mile Beach - the #1 ranked beach on the island. Staff is friendly, courteous and knowledgable.
King bed in MBR was a little hard for my taste. Double beds in the 2nd BR were a little noisy when you moved, so it was tough for light sleepers. But then, you can always catch a nap on the beach! « less

- My family owns several weeks at SMBR and have been traveling there for over 10 years! I am happy to report that the resort has made some GREAT improvements over the last year!
The units now have washer/dryers, a flatscreen tv in the living room, and tvs in BOTH the master and guest bedrooms! The landscaping looks really great and since Christmas, they built a whole brand new outdoor grilling area. This area is fancy! It has an outdoor sink, two huge grills with timers and everything. Best part, it's COVERED so you can get some relief from the sun or the rain!
The resort is currently renovating the outdoor hot tub. I am not sure what the plans are but it seems they are going to build a brand new one?
Overall, SMBR is my home away from home. The location is perfect, the beach beautiful, the staff very friendly, and the condo has all the comforts of home.
Great job Seven Mile Beach Resort! « less

- Traveling for the first time in several years as a family, we made the decision to make our vacation in the Grand Cayman. We used our timeshare and were able to get a week in July at 7 Mile Beach Resort. I was pretty skeptical reading some of the reviews about the tennis court and office, but figured we weren't going to the Caribbean to neither play tennis nor sit in an office. We made the best decision ever! The resort is not very inviting on the outside and has no elevators. I requested a ground floor unit because my mother who is suffering with knee problems and couldn't climb stairs. We were well accomodated. The 2 bedroom condos were clean, comfortable and fully stacked with all one would need. The outdoor porch was steps away from the pool and seconds away from the most beautiful, clear beach we have ever seen. The resort had plenty of chairs on the beach and even supplied an umbrella for you to keep for the week. All new stainless steel appliances were in the well stocked kitchen as well as a freezer full of ice waiting for us! There was a washer/dryer in every unit and a big flat screen tv in the living room. Even though there was a jacuzzi in the master bedroom, I feel it would have been a problem for the elderly or people with leg problems to take a bath/shower. There was no shower in the master bedroom and you had to raise your legs pretty high to get into the tub. There was a shower though in the main bathroom.
We took a cab from the airport to the resort (about $35US) but did not need a car for the rest of our trip. The buses run constantly and there is no bus stop, they see you standing/walking and they stop. Beware though, these are not city buses as we had expected...they are more like 15 person vans that are comfortable and they charge $2CI or $2.50US. Well worth it!! In case you do need a car though, there is Andy's Car Rental right across the street. The resort had a van that left Saturday and Monday for the local supermarket. There is an outdoor kitchen at the resort with BBQ's for you to use whenver you choose. After eating out the first night we arrived at Coconut Joes across the street, we decided that the majority of our meals would be cooked at home. Dining out is extremely expensive but a must for at least a dinner or two.
We took a tour through the resort to Stingray Sandbar. They used Captain Marvins and the trip and crew were incredible! The tours go out at either 9:30 am or 1:30 pm. We took the afternoon one and would recommend this outing for everyone! Two stops are made for snorkeling and one at the Stingray sandbar all for $40US. Don't miss it!!
This vacation we traveled with our two sons, ages 22 and 17 and my mother. I was afraid the boys would get a little bored, but because the resort is small (38 units) everybody gets to know everybody. My boys met young boys and girls at the pool and all got together either at the pool or at clubs in the evening.
Because of it's smaller size, this was the resort for us. There were not hundreds of people at the pool, you did not have to worry about getting a lounge chair whenever you wanted and by the end of the week we had made many new friends.
7 Mile Beach Resort is one of the most comfortable resorts we have every stayed in. It's simple, clean and intimate feeling was one my family will never forget and are looking forward to going again next year. « less

- My husband and I own a week at this resort and had the pleasure of staying here again recently. We were both very pleased to see that improvements have been made since our visit(and my Trip Advisor review) last year. There are now stacked washer & dryers in most, if not all of the units. We believe the cushions on the rattan furniture have been replaced with a darker, yet still tropical color. They look nice and should hold color better than the lighter ones.
The tennis court is now clear of debris and is sporting a new net. We saw someone using it too. The only next step for that is to re-paint the court.
While I still noticed the chickens wandering around, I didn't see a rooster and none woke me up at dawn! The landscaping around the pool has been spruced up - they've pulled out some of what I believe was bouganvilla and some new plants were put in. The onsite grounds/maintenance folks were busy with some of that when we were there. We also noted them powerwashing the sidewalks while it was raining.
The storage container in the parking lot is still there but it's been painted and looks less obtrusive. Our unit had a new flat screen tv in it. That was a nice update. I don't think all units have them yet because we saw some of the older tube tvs in a few units in the evening.
Cherri, who's the onsite manager, is wonderful. She was nice, friendly and helpful. She even came up to our unit to help us resolve a tv/dvd player issue we had. It was our user error and not a problem with the electronic equipment.
We don't participate in any of the resort activities but they seemed to be well-attended. Took advantage of the leave a book take a book exchange again and really like that it's an amenity. The on-site dive business appeared to have bookings much of the week. We saw many people using the barbeques near the pool throughout the week too.
The beach is back and bigger than it's been in years. It was great to see that the resort seems to have more umbrellas on the beach and there looked to be additional chaise lounges.
I'm not sure what the plans are for rebuilding a free-standing office. Really, if the current office, in one of the units, seems to be meeting the resort's business needs, they probably don't need to rebuild one. It would be nice if something could be done with that empty space, even if it's just to clean it up, make a larger covered patio or add more parking.
While not resort-related, we have noticed that prices for everything, groceries, liquor, wine, dining, etc. seem more expensive than in the past. We found ourselves inclined to dine in for at least an evening meal or two but think the kitchen pots, pans, dishes, etc. are a little lacking. It would be great to have a cookie sheet, a sauté pan, a larger pot (not as large as the one which seems to be a lobster pot), a couple more dish towels and washclothes so you can have a fresh one each day, wine glasses (even cheapies are fine) and even some plastic cups you can take to the pool.
A couple tips that don't take up a lot of room in your luggage:
+Take with you binder clips, twist ties and large rubber bands - these are great for keeping chips and crackers fresh and free from humidity.
+Take with you reclosable plastic bags in a couple sizes - these are great for the same things you'd use them for at home and now you don't have to buy them at Kirk's or Foster's!
If you'd like to see the island from the water but not be on a crowded pirate ship or catamaran, charter a sailing yacht. We went out one evening with SailCayman.com. It was just the two of us and it was wonderful! Highly recommend that if you're so inclined!
We think things at the resort are improving. As owners of a week, we're very happy to see that and appreciate all of the efforts being made! « less

- Checked in... under 10 minutes ....relaxed...Cherri the guest services person was excellent....James and Steve ran the trips to Sting Ray City and the various diving reefs .....these were highlights of our trip. The resort is close to plenty of places to eat. There is a rental a car business across the street Andy's (get the gray Mustang). I really liked this spot ...our unit #15 was a bottom level two bedroom with a washer & dryer. we got hooked on allahkabobs which is just around the corner small building ...just look for the line get in it order and eat ... there is a good side walk for jogging 3 miles to either way safe for night or day running or walking. you will also injoy the resturant across the street. There is a shuttle to the Market daily if you dont rent a car...anything you need just contact Cherri ....she will make it happen « less
