- My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of a 10 night stay in Tahiti (we stayed at the Pearl Beach Hotel in Bora Bora as well). When we arrived at this hotel, we found that the staff was very accommodating and catered to our needs. The hotel manager, Yves, was fantastic!
We stayed on an over water bungalow and were satisfied with our room. We did notice that the bungalow needed some maintenance. For example, we'd find bits of small debris from the ceiling on our bed. The bed and restrooms were quite nice and although we did not have access to the water, we were okay with the fact that we had to walk over to the beach side to enjoy the water. It rained a bit but certainly didn't spoil our stay there. The sand is clean and has pretty pink hues. We were a little fascinated with all the hermit crabs we found along the beach, too. My husband says this site probably has one of the best snorkeling sites he's ever experienced. So, if you go there he suggests snorkeling around the over water bungalows where the ocean current is coming from.
Dinners there were just 'okay' -- all the meals we ordered (fish & chicken) were very dry so it made the meals less tasty and less enjoyable. The deserts - no complaints. Breakfasts were not as nice as Bora Bora Pearl Beach's hotel. However, the breakfast was satisfactory. We did go to the village to get some snacks but we didn't buy enough.
Bird Island was beautiful. It's amazing how you can get so close to the baby birds and to see some eggs that were just lying on tree trunks! Be sure to go there. The hotel can arrange this excursion (not free).
We would definitely return this hotel just for the snorkeling and the staff. « less

- My husband and I stayed at the Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort in April, 2010 and went here primarily for the scuba diving. The diving was spectacular and the resort was overall a wonderful place to stay.
We elected to stay in the Overwater Suite which is clearly the best room type. Not only are they by far the largest bungalows, but they also have the best location and have A/C which is beneficial, especially between November - April when it is more humid here. The snokeling off the bungalow is good but there isn't that large of a coral area so it gets a little boring after a day or so. However, at night, the baby blacktip reef sharks swim by your room which is really cool.
The diving here is unspoiled and thriving with marine life. The visibility is gin-clear and the pass dive is a lot of fun. The current through the pass is much slower than the Tiputa Pass in Rangiroa, so the diving is more relaxed. We also didn't see as many sharks as Rangiroa or Moorea, but we did see schools of barracuda and jacks, napolean wrasse, and some whitetip reef sharks.
My only complaint is that the restaurant, which is the only choice for dinner, should have more food selections on their menu. We were only here for four nights, but became very bored of the food choices after the second night. « less

- While I agree with some of the other review's criticisms, I totally have to disagree with anyone who says they were not treated well, unless the entire staff has changed since we went there in 2007. As we got off the boat that brought us to the island, we were greeted by Mark, who scared us at first because he asked us how long we would be staying and when we said 2 weeks, he said "Two WEEKS-what will you ever do for 2 weeks?" Then he walked us to our bungalow which was one over the water and while the ac was not always the coolest, we had a canoe tied up to our outside deck, which we could use at our whim-the diving was not what we expected from advertisers comments, but we saw some of the biggest lemon sharks we had ever seen and with a recent el nino, all the diving problems were not the fault of those at Tike Hau. Bottom line is my wife and I (She was my fiance on arrival-we were married next in Bora-Bora and then made it legal in our country later that same year) we both still remember Tike Hau as the most relaxing and rejuvenating time of our lives. Being from the United States, Mark may not have understood the utter bliss of just relaxing, but we were on our way to Bora Bora next and still sad when it was time to leave. If you go-visit "Bird Island"; where they are so relaxed you literally can reach out and touch them-but don't....people were friendly, our food was great, water was beautiful, bungalow was very clean-yes-it's expensive-but things that nice cost money . No rudeness meant here but if you're trying to save money- go somewhere closer to civilization. Mark-if you are still thee, hello from Jim & Laura and give our best to everyone there, Jim « less

- We spent 4 nights in the new A/C overwater bungalows the first week of January 2010 and the A/C in our bungalow did not work. It was 4 very sweaty and hot nights, even with all of the windows open. Other than that, there are no complaints about this resort or location. Tikehau is very beautiful and the water is clear, when the weather is good, the snorkelling is amazing. The new overwater bungalows are spacious, beautiful, and clean. The food at the restaurant was very acceptable for less than a weeks stay due to the limited menu items. The transportation to and from the airport by boat is good and they supply rain ponchos to everyone, which we definitely needed with the heavy rainfall we had for a few days. « less

- The place is great but the hotel does not have AC in all the rooms. We reserved a beach bungalow with AC, but at arrival they just said that they did not have more beach bungalows. They gave us as "a courtesy" an "updagrade" for a bungalow over the water. The room was nice but without AC; this is not an upgrade specially when you cannot sleep because of the 30 C degrees and the mosquitoes bites.
We stayed 4 days and during this time the personnel lokked tired after working as dancer for new year eve until 2 am and then serving breakfast, and later working as a bartender. It was clear that the hotel is understaffed and this bring a very poor service ( .
There are many other nice places that we stayed in polynesia with a more serious customer service, that we cannot recoomend this hotel. We mentioned in our feed back that they should invest in hotel maintenance and include more personnel to be able to improve their service. « less
