- I would consider Cortona Inn Anaheim more of a Motel rather than a Hotel.
The room furniture is pretty nice but the beds aren't that comfortable and the air conditioning freezes and does not work. I actually saw ice of the air conditioning unit and the room was pretty warm most of the time we were there. When I turned it off for a while, the ice thawed and got the carpet all wet.
There is no free internet access, not even in the hotel lobby.
It was nice to have a microwave and a fridge.
It was my first time staying there and probably the last. « less

- Having visited the Anaheim Resort on several occasions over recent years, I have
stayed at some of the bigger (and more expensive!) hotels the resort has to
offer. However, in the summer of 2009, myself and a friend took a trip to The US
to celebrate our graduation. One of our many stops was in Anaheim. We opted for
cheaper accommodation in Anaheim to enable us to stay in a more luxurious hotel
with a central location in Hollywood.
We stayed at The Cortona Inn & Suites for 5 nights (September 16th-21st) having
got a great rate direct from the hotels website with their 'Stay 3 Nights and
Save' promotion. After researching a lot of similar hotels within close
proximity to Disneyland Resort, The Cortona came out on top - for almost
everything! The hotel isn't the closest off-site property to Disney but it's
definitely within walking distance. On average it took us around 15 minutes from
leaving our room to arriving at the esplanade!
So, fresh off a bus from Las Vegas, we arrived at The Cortona at around 8pm and
were greeted by Judy (?) at the front desk who was extremely welcoming! She
briefed us on the local surroundings, what the hotel had to offer and Disneyland
Resorts opening times. We were allocated a room on the ground floor on the side
nearest Disneyland Resort. The room had everything you would expect, was of a
very decent size (comparing it to rooms at more expensive hotels which are not
only smaller but that are also not within walking distance to Disney!) and was
decorated tastefully. Room amenities were what you'd usually expect however, a
fridge and safe were also present. Safe's still don't seem to be as standard in
most hotel rooms so it was a welcome addition! However, the key to it was
missing. Had we of brought this issue to light, I am sure it would have been
dealt with quickly and efficiently however, as we had already stayed at other
hotels that didn't offer safes, we opted to continue to just leave our valuables
inside a locked suitcase instead.
Being a motel-style hotel, there were shrubs almost directly outside our door so
we could hear the local wildlife buzzing around outside our room every night but
other than that, we heard virtually no noise at all. There'd be occasional noise
some mornings with people loading up cars and checking out but other than that,
nothing!
During our stay rooms were beginning to undergo minor renovation in the form of
new bedding and the addition of bolster pillows to each bed. This small change
made a huge difference! The vibrant colours make the rooms a lot brighter and
appear far plusher. Great addition Cortona management!
Although we very much enjoyed our stay at The Cortona, it wasn't all pros...
There is free Wi-Fi in the lobby however, trekking to and from and camping out
in the lobby to check e-mails, check-in for flights and tours, etc. is a little
annoying when it could be done from the comfort and privacy of your own room.
Although small and basic, the pool area is nice. However, a little more
shrubbery (or covering of any kind!) around the fence shielding the view of the
car park wouldn't go a miss in my opinion! The hotel lays back off of the main
road so there's minimal street noise, however seeing cars come and go as you're
trying to relax by the pool, isn't very relaxing.
If you're looking for a luxurious resort-style retreat, this motel-style hotel
certainly isn't for you. If luxury is what you're after, I'd recommend the
recently renovated Hyatt Regency Orange County further down Harbor! However, if
you're looking for a base to visit Disneyland and other Southern California
attractions, this hotel more than fits the bill! I'll definitely be returning!!
Thank you Cortona Inn & Suites for a fantastic stay!!! « less

- We stayed here for two nights to enjoy the delights of disney. As a group of four adults we found the rooms comfortable enough. The rooms had a fridge, and microwave which was handy. The room appeared to be clean and the bathroom spacious. Breakfast was a little bit of a disappointment. Coffee was disgusting, boiled eggs seemed like they had been pickled and bread seemed like it had been left out for days. It was hectic and very busy with not enough space.
We didn't spend much time in the room as we were at Disney. It's about a 10minute walk to the gates, so perfect distance.....
For friends going to Disney I would recommend for a couple of nights. Any longer, maybe book into a better hotel. « less

- We booked Corotona after reading the reviews on this forum. It sounded like the Inn gave point by point rebuttals to any 'bad' reviews and there were some good ones. So we took a chance given that they had a "Suite" that could hold our party of 6.
So the real deal...
It is not a hotel. At best, a motel. I'm even bordering on family dorm. the only part of the pictures in the website that was "real" was the check-in lobby in the middle of the hotel. The room block was old, doors were thin and everybody could look into your room if you forget to draw your curtains.
We got an "executive suite" - nothing excutive about the room (not calling it a suite). We opened the door and i wanted to walk out. The carpets were filthy! It was the only place that i didn't want to remove my shoes and my kids' feet were all black within an hour (see pictures).
The room with 2 double beds were fine. The sofa bed was atrocious. We opened and found corn flakes under the cushion. I don't even want to think of the last time they changed the sheets. We pulled out all the beddings and asked housekeeping to change the sheets. Mattress was frayed. At least beddings were changed when we got back. There was no wifi. Only cabled broadband in the room. They 'loan' cables. If you forget to return, a $30 charge is applied to your card.
Bathroom was simple. Toiletries provided was 1 set of tiny shampoo, soap bar and body lotion for 6! Towels were small, rough and definitely old. Need changing please.
TV volume was always max and scratchy when we turned it on, room safe had no key in it (not the digital type), a lamp wasn't working, the drawer of a pull out cabinet under the tv kept moving out of place (my son hit his head on it), hair dryer had sparks (we called to inform and nothing was done).
There is no restaurant, only a crowded breakfast room that has square tables and chairs around. Breakfast foods were pre-packaged donuts, danishes, bad soaked thru soggy french 'toast', white/brown bread and waffles (not the freshly made kind), and cereal. To their credit, there was hard boiled eggs on one of the days.
Other than the check-in lobby (staff were ok), the whole place needs an update. More care needs to be given to guests. It appears that everything was "just enough" done, no extra care on making the place more comfortable - the breakfast room would be a good example. And please, remove the resort fee - this is hardly a resort. What this place does well is that it makes you want to leave the room early and come back really late. « less

- Check in was easy.
My coffee maker didn't work, called front desk all they offered was to go downstairs and have some at the Lobby. Due to it being after hours. Instead went to my other room i booked, only to find a cockroach laying an egg in the water reservoir of the coffee maker. Called front desk to notify, only to be brushed off and instructed to go downstairs.
Lastly called for extra sheets only to be told I have to walk across the inn to get them myself.(again mind you it being after business hours)
