Overview
Location. The McCaffrey House B&B is set within a quiet forest hollow of the California Sierra Mountains in Twain Harte, Calif. Surrounding the inn are oak, cedar and pine trees marking the edge of the Stanislaus National Forest and Emigrant Wilderness. The bed and breakfast is two miles from the Twain Harte Golf Club and approximately seven miles from the Black Oak Casino.
Features. This three-story country home, designed and constructed by the innkeepers themselves 30 years ago, is located high in California Gold Country set off the main road. Complimentary full breakfasts are served in the dining room or on the deck, which offers views of the surrounding forest and is enhanced with the sound of a stream flowing nearby. Complimentary coffee, tea, sparkling cider and wine complemented by a cheese, cracker and fruit trays are served each afternoon. Picnic lunches are available for a fee. Fax and photocopy services are available upon request. The house’s general gathering areas are decorated with a collection of furniture and art acquired during the innkeepers’ travels. A complimentary library of videos is available.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the McCaffrey House B&B are decorated in colors borrowed from the bed’s quilts, handmade by the Amish of Lancaster County, Penn. All accommodations feature black iron fire stoves. Complimentary wireless Internet is accessible in all rooms. Televisions with cable channels and VCRs are enclosed in pinewood armoires. Select rooms offer private balconies or patios. The adjacent forest serves as the backdrop from the guestrooms’ windows.
