The Longwood Country Inn is located in Woodbury, Conn., in northwest Connecticut’s Litchfield Hills, which offers museums, theaters, art galleries, unique shops and boutiques, and restaurants within 10 miles of the inn. Nature centers, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, golf, and carriage and sleigh rides are also available in Litchfield Hills. The Pomperaug Golf Course is two miles from the property. Known as the Antique Capital of Connecticut, Woodbury boasts more than 40 antique shops and galleries. Many are located in historic homes within a six-mile stretch from the inn along Route 6. Kettletown State Park, located approximately six miles away, offers fishing, swimming, hiking and picnic areas.
This Colonial-style inn, built in 1789, is surrounded by a stone wall, gardens and miles of unspoiled rolling fields. The restaurant at the property serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, offering creative American cuisine, European-style table service and a warm glow from the fireplace.
