Tucked away among tropical gardens and bordered by lakes and a beautifully manicured golf course, the Hyatt Coconut Plantation in Bonita Springs, Fla., is one mile from the Gulf of Mexico and 17 miles from Southwest Florida International Airport. This condominium-style resort, popular among leisure travelers, is located between Fort Myers Beach and Naples, both of which are just 20 miles away.
Designed with premium antiqued- leather armchairs, a mid-room rock fireplace and provincial-wood floors, the hotel's lounge area makes a strong first impression. Raptor Bay, the hotel's 18-hole championship golf course, is certified by the Audubon Society, and signage at each hole identifies the rare birds that guests might see at that location. Complimentary transportation is provided to the marina and the hotel's private island, Big Hickory, where guests can swim in the Gulf and relax on the white-sand beach. The Hyatt Coconut Plantation features tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, but the most striking attribute is the grotto-style pool that sits beneath towering palm trees and jutting rock waterfalls. The hotel has a total of five outdoor pools, and a "lazy river" for relaxing afternoons. A fitness center, conference room, playground, arcade and supervised childcare activities are among some of the other amenities available to hotel guests.

The 108 condominium-style guestrooms feature raw umber-wood furnishings and British West Indies décor. After the reading all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to exchange our timeshare (in Orlando) to this one so that we could enjoy an easy and laid back vacation and we were not dissapointed.

The resort is simply beautiful and has all the amenities we needed. There were plenty of pools (5 in total) for kids an adults. The lazy river is simply the best and most relaxing of all. The small gys was more than adequate for the morning workout and there is plenty of green areas and roads for a nice morning jog as well.

The service was very good. We made a maintenance call and the front desk called the same day to make sure that everything was handled appropriately. The staff was very nice.

Most importanly, we were not bothered with the vacation club sales presentation. In fact, we were asked once and we politely declined; they were perfectly ok with it.

We had a 2Bed/2Bath room. The room was inmaculate and spacious with top of the line appliances. We had my parents and my son. We used the sofa bed and it was very comfortable as well.

The area was perfect for us. There is a big mall about 5miles from the resort with just about any store you can imagine, including a huge Target with a grocery store. There is also a movie complex in the mall and my wife and I had a chance to get away one night to catch a movie. There are also plenty of good restaurants in the area with all types of foods and values. We actually stayed at home for dinner most of the time since we took advantage of the Weber grills on the grounds of the resort.

We also took the shuttle to the private island and the Hyatt Regency hotel. I must admit that we were a little dissapointed with the beach at the island. While the boat ride is very nice, the water simply was not that attractive to us. Having said that, there were pleny of chairs and umbrellas (when the tide was low) to hang out and let the kids play in the sand and water. The Hyatt Regency was also very nice with great water slides and very nice pools as well.

We will certainly be back next year!!! We highly recommend this place tor those who are looking for a relaxing time with the family. « less

From Southwest Florida International Airport:
Head south on I-75 and take Exit 123. Head west on Corkscrew, Head south on 41 and west on Coconut. Turn right into the hotel.
