Location.Key Largo Grande Resort & Beach Club, a Hilton Resort in Key Largo, Fla., overlooks a native hardwood forest and beach, 50 feet from the Gulf of Mexico. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is two miles from the hotel.
Hotel Features. Guests are treated to Caribbean and Mediterranean blended cuisine at Café Key Largo, and South American appetizers and tropical beverages at Parrots Lounge. Room service is available during limited hours. More than 10,000 square feet of meeting space with Internet access is available. Besides access to one of the area's largest private beaches, the hotel offers a full range of water sports and sport fishing. Two heated outdoor pools, a fitness center, sauna and lighted tennis courts round out the activities offered.

Guestrooms.Tropically-inspired furnishings are offered in each of the 109 guestrooms. In-room safes are available. Amenities include coffeemakers and refrigerators, which are available upon request.

“Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else”

After a long day of travel the last thing we wanted was to be dissapointed with our accomodations. Our "first" room was disgusting, hair on the bathroom floor, dirty counter, and the worst was when we pulled back the bed cover to find black hairs in the bed. We did notice that house keeping wore hair nets so I don't believe they got there when they made up the bed. When I went to call the front desk our phone had no buttons. After requesting a new room, which we did receive, it was cleaner but we ended up with a wonderful view of the parking lot. The room was definately "worn" and definately lacked any sort of a resort feel. After being highly dissapointed with now "room #2" we asked for an upgrade to a water view room. A day later we were granted our request and stayed the remainder of our stay in a water view room, however I still never felt like I was staying anywhere other than a standard hotel room "with a view". Our slider door didn't locked and the elevator never worked the entire time we were there and being on the 4th floor it was definately an inconvenience. Our keys stopped working and they said it was because the battery died in the lock. There seems to be some major issues with maintenance and the place is certainly showing it. Definately not worth the money in opinion.
The pool area was clean, although signing out a pool towel with the threat of a 15.00 charge per pool towel if it was not returned made me feel like I was staying at a motel. Also if you like the idea of relaxing poolside with the sound of traffic going by, your in the right place. If not you can always head over to the "beach".
We did not utilize the restaurant so I cannot comment. However, we did have outrageously priced drinks, $18.00 for a beer and daiquiri. The front desk staff was less than helpful. Not sure what the "10" means on the buttons they wear. Maybe, "Ask again in 10 and then we might help you."
This was our first time away without our kids and I can't tell you how dissapointed we were with our overall accomodations. I will never again stay at this "resort" and it certainly doesn't live up to the typical Hilton name. « less

We've stayed at the Hilton Key Largo Grande several times over the years (Grand Water View Suite). On our recent trip to the Key's we decided to stay at the Cheeca Lodge since they offered what was advertised as a "full kitchen" in their Lagoon View Suite, we prefer preparing our own meals due to food allergies. After checking into the Cheeca Lodge we experienced several problems, we immediately called the Key Largo Grande and they were able to accommodate us with the Grand Water View suite. Unfortunately our favorite suite at the Key Largo Grande was already booked and we had to settle for a suite at the far end of the resort, it was also a smoking room and since we are not smokers it was a little difficult to get used to the stench but a few scented candles took care of that issue.

When we checked in there was a wedding taking place on the smaller beach below our room which was nice to observe. There was a problem with the jacuzzi in our suite but maintenance was there quickly and fixed the problem and gave us two free drinks at the Tiki bar for our troubles. Staff was friendly and helpful when needed, wireless internet access was blazing fast and worth the extra cost. We went to the front desk to ask for a couple fishing poles and were told to get the poles on the beach but there was no one around to give us the fishing poles. A very helpful staff person found us a couple of fishing poles which were very "toy-ish" and not what we are used to getting from the Key Largo Grande.

We spent our time there wandering the nature trail, lounging on our balcony with its fabulous view of the Bay, and relaxing on the several little private beach areas on the property. There were many children while we were there and it got a bit noisy we could have done without that, also our room was next to another property and unfortunately during our stay the other property had a trash pickup, the trucks were very noisy and the stench of garbage lingered for a few hours after pickup. The $12.00 a day parking fee is a bit on the stupid side but at least they're not charging you a "$40 a day resort fee" like others in the area. The Key Largo Grande was very busy while we were there and parking was tight, it didn't help that some very ignorant guest parked in a non parking area blocking the stairs to the parking lot when we checked out.

Overall our experience at the Key Largo Grande was a good one and I would recommend this resort to others. In the future we will not be tempted by the false advertising of other Key's resorts and just book ourselves into the Key Largo Grande where we always get what we are looking for in a Key's retreat. « less
