- My child and I stayed here for a weekend as part of a large group and it was fully booked that weekend. Our room was available right at 3:00. The reception people in the lobby were friendly in person, but short on the phone. During check-in, I was in the middle of my transaction when the manager interupted the clerk to talk about some issue totally unrelated to me. The clerk apologized to me about it, but the manager didn't seem to understand his rudeness and importance of taking care of a customer.
Although it's a non-smoking hotel, many of our group had rooms or bedding that smelled strongly of smoke. Our room was good sized, clean and had clean linens, etc. The bathroom was dated, but clean. The air conditioning unit was noisy, but efficient. Our door had to be pulled shut in order for the lock to engage or else it was unsecure. There was no refridgerator in our room, but an ice machine down the hall.
There was no breakfast included in our daily rate, but this was probably a good thing as reports from friends said the restaurant was pitiful (dirty dishes, dried out food). For the price we paid and the quality of accomodations-right off a highway, I would have expected a breakfast or at least a refridgerator in the room. There are plenty of places to eat nearby that we took advantage of.
We did not check out the pool.
I would not return to this hotel as it met my bare minimum expectancy of what a hotel should offer and was quite expensive without offering much. « less

- My Daughter booked 2 rooms one for me and one for her family, (it was for a soccer tournament and others were there also that is why we were there) after she told me i read the reviews and was almost tempted to cancel even if it meant losing the money, and booking elsewhere. The reviews were really awful... I told her to be prepared for the worse when we got there. Much to my surprise when i opened my room it was clean, from the carpet to the furniture. After awhile in the room i noticed it was not warming up even tho i had the thermostat set very high..(it was a cold week-end) I phoned the front desk and was told a maintenance man would be right there. (i doubted it) In about 10 minutes a knock on the door surprised me. it was a gentleman with a key to another room that he said the heat was working in. And we were to change rooms. A few minutes later the phone rang with an offer from the desk to send up a luggage cart to help us move our things... i declined because we only had overnight bags..I decided not to move right away but to let the other room warm up as that was cold also. After waiting about an hour i checked and that room was only a couple degrees warmer than when i first went there... so i waited another hour, all in all it only warmed up about 4 degrees warmer than the room i was in.
When my daughter came to go to their room i told her about the situation and she said their room was nice and warm... ( it was ) she offered to change with me cause they didn't mind it being cooler. So that is what we did. Problem solved for me. But i know if i had called again they would have given me a different room again.
On morning check out i explained to the girl at the desk why i had all these room keys and as it turned out the fellow from the night before was there by the desk and asked me how the 2nd room was, i explained what we did, and he thanked me for telling him and he would have maintenance repair check on both rooms on Monday..
Every one was very friendly and helpful , and spoke English.
I ate breakfast with two grand children in their restrauant and was treated well there also.
and the food was good. French toast and blueberry pancakes. After all the very bad reviews i read i thought it was only fair to share my experience... I was in room 332 (at first) then was told to change to 337 but ended up staying in 330.. all rooms were very nice and clean. Room 330 may have been a tad smaller, as the other two had a nice living room chair in them and Room 330 didn't.
Had no problems with hot water. service etc. Only drawback i found was the ice machine is on the 1st floor which made it difficult for me as i have trouble walking and you have to go up and down some stairs to get to the ice machine. Elevators were quick to respond. Not slow like some places i have stayed in., But from my experience i think if i asked them to bring me ice up to the room (explaining my situation) they may have done that also
And checking in was quick and efficient as was checking out.. perhaps the 3rd floor was recently renovated i don't know but it was not like the reviews i read from the past. Mattress was a little firm but thats hotels for you. « less

- My husband and I booked our stay through Southwest Airlines, the Holiday Inn is a Rapid Rewards partner. We stayed only one night because the people we were visiting did not have extra space the first night of our vacation.
The hotel lobby was clean, although the bar with Kareoke was a little loud (it was close to midnight when we checked in).
Our room was a King non-smoking. The toilet tank did not seal unless you 'jiggled' the handle. When that failed, I removed the lid to inspect the situation. Quite a bit of black mold in there and sights I hope I never see again in my life.
The tap water smelled horrible, absolutely disgusting. The taste was unbearable.
There is no ATM on site, so be sure to bring cash/change for vending or at least bring your own water - even for the coffee maker. I'm quite serious about this.
Other than that, it was a place to hang our hat for one night. I would much rather spend $50 more per night and stay somewhere more comfortable if we need lodging in Lakeland again. « less

- I stayed at this hotel with my family. Check in was quick and efficent, the staff acknowledged my Priority Club membership and my level, and was given a nice, clean room. There were two opperating elevators, as well as a full service resturant and lounge. Where i was even given FREE drink coupons for being a PC member. The staff was very friendly and outgoing, I stayed for a total of four nights, the staff greeted me by name, which was very plesant and suprising. I overall enjoyed my stay, the pool/patio was always kept very clean, and my children loved it. When we needed something the staff was always right on top of it- no matter what time of day it was! I would advise any family to stay here. « less
