- The place showed it's age on the outside as well as the inside. The carpeting in the elevator and halls was dirty, worn and needed cleaning if not replacing. The furniture in the room we had was tattered & dated showing it's wear and age. The sofa, chairs, luggage benches were terribly stained, the desk was worn ( worn finish) and actually had dried ketcup on the edges that I had to clean off. There were no books in the room listing their services, room service with a menu, etc. No books showing what was available to do in the area or Sarasota. We felt like we were in a second or third rate hotel. This was not a clean place. The chairs on the beach were old and saggy and the webbing material was shredding, ripped with holes. Most needed repair. When my husband went to the front desk to tell them of our early check out the personnel on duty couldn't grasp what he was telling them. We spent a considerable amount of time at the Hilton in Naples and the difference in the professionalism is staggering. We will continue to use the Hilton in Naples and continue to it to our friends and associates but we cannot say the same for the facility in Longboat Key. The only saving grace the facility has in Longboat is the direct proximity to the beach and the beautiful gulf. Other than that it is quite lacking. « less

- What a great hotel! The staff were warm and helpful. We were sittng at the bar outside when the bartender got a call and the manager asked him to make virgin frozen drinks for the entire housekeeping staff. Treating the staff like this is what comes through when we interacted with them. Only smiling faces were seen from the entire staff. We really felt like we were "on vacation" here. The beach was beautiful, the gulf was serene and warm.
We look forward to going back soon. « less Read management response to this review.

- The hotel was okay and my stay was good. I don;t have any major complaints, but can't say anything great besides the location. The location is right on the gulf and has a wonderful beach. The pool is older, but was clean and nice. We had no trouble getting a chaise lounge and an umbrella by the pool. There is no food or drink service staff at the pool though. The hotel is older and really needs a renovation. The room decor and common areas (except for the lobby which is beautiful and re-done) are 1985 (Springsteen, Madonna, right before Nirvana... and music still on MTV), but I digress. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. They have a van that will take you to St Armands Circle or to local restaurants and then come and pick you up (a nice touch). There is also a great restaurant, called Euphemia Haye about a mile away and it is great!
All in all, the hotel is fine, but nothing special. The location is great. The staff try hard, but the hotel really needs a makeover. I would say that they are more like a Doubletree or very nice Hampton Inn on the quality scale, not really up to the newest standards of the Hilton brand. « less Read management response to this review.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. We just started food and beverage service at the pool on weekends, and are working on making it more available so that the service is faster. We are happy that you had a good stay, and hope to see you again soon.

- I'm a Hilton Diamond Member, hence a power - user and I travel in Florida for business and pleasure alot. I love the Hilton Brand. This is a nice, little property right on the beach, close to lots of nice things to do a places to eat. The employees are very friendly- I "caught them beiing great" frequently-- but management has decided to under-staff the property. You have to go chase down a beer or lunch around the pool. It's tough to find a towel around the pool because the guy working the hut is on break alot. The pool is salt-water and nice, but really warm in the summer; no tempature control. It's an old "diving board" pool that's 7-8 feet deep in about half of it and shallow in the other, so people tend to pack the small, shallow end. The beach is terrific, with jet-ski and hobie cat for rent for a good price. Hilton doesn't partner with them even though it right outsdie their gates, so bring cash. The rooms are very bland and dates, but adequate. The A/C cooled but had difficulty de-humidifying. Room service closes at 930, with nothing much else around, so hit the Circle K on the way back from dinner if you need a nightcap or milk for the kids before bed. Buffet breakfast and lunch is really tasty with a nice outdoor deck area to eat outside if you like. Overall, for a brand other than Hilton, I'd rate it higher, but if you are used to the great Hilton brand, you are going to be disappointed a bit here and it's still 50,000 points a night for a room. The family probably won't complain much though; you are at the beach! « less

Thank you very much for your review, and our employees appreciate you "Catching them at their Best"; it really means a lot to them. We are sorry for the trouble you had on finding someone to assist you with towels and food and beverage by the pool, and I can assure you this is not a normal occurence. We thank you for being a loyal Hilton Diamond Member and we hope to see you again soon!

- My first stay at this hotel was in the late '70's. The close friends I traveled with have since passed away. Have such wonderful memories of this beautiful, friendly place. I returned, by myself, in the early "90's and since then have been back several times. Request one of the rooms each time, where we had all stayed---#230/232--Used to be adjoining rooms, and it brings back memories of the very best times in my life. Thank you for all that you do in so many ways, each time that I stay there. Hope to see you soon again !! « less
