- My wife and I honeymooned here for 7 nights. What a wonderful place to stay. The hotel does look dated from the outside but once inside, everything changes. From the greeting at the valet to checking out we had the best experience ever.
We were greeted by champagne in an ice bucket from the hotel as a congratulations on our honeymoon. The location of the hotel is perfect for a get-away week. Right on the beach but near enough to Naples for a dinner out. The staff were all really friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Stephen on the Tiki bar was especially friendly, as were Amelia and Matthew in the Baleen bar.
If you want a great hotel for a perfect getaway, you couldn't get much better than La Playa and we will definitely be back. « less

- From the minute we pulled in and walked into the tastefully decororated Florida style lobby to the minute we left we were treated like "guests". Outstanding service, incredible views from their newly redecorated rooms, a pool with PLENTY of chaise lounges, incredible food, and did I mention the outstanding service? I cannot say enough about the La Playa Resort. It is top notch, not to be missed. I have returned a well rested, pampered and satisfied person. GO! « less

- We stayed for 2 nights last weekend and this place is exactly what I needed after being unceremoniously dumped by my company!!!
It is right on the beach and as relaxed a place and atmosphere as you can get so you can completely switch off from reality and enjoy this wonderful place!! /the staff couldn't be more helpful and genuinely seem happy to help you (except this sulky pool barwoman).
The room was huge. We had the bay view as no ocean views left but were told this was better anyway!! We are planning on going back in November for another quick getaway. « less

- I have stayed in the Hilton Grande Resort and Ritz-Carlton of Naples, and while they are both nice, La Playa takes the cake. La Playa may not look as "grand" as the other resorts when you first look at it, but the pool area, service, beach, views, and restaurant are to die for. We loved how small and intimate the hotel felt, and although the prices weren't cheap, they were more affordable than the Ritz or the Grande Resort. La Playa doesn't charge extra for internet and the food is actually worth those high prices (the food is AMAZING!!). Baleen is a beautiful and amazing restaurant and I highly recommend it! The views of the beach and sunset are the best in Naples. Our room was beautiful as well, and we were excited because we were told we would have a standard room with a standard view, but when we arrived, we found that we actually had a beautiful beach view! And the room was beautiful- the bed was very comfortable. Every night we got to watch the sunset from our balcony. The beach service was amazing (at the Ritz you have to pay $25-30 for an umbrella) but at La Playa we received chairs and umbrellas for no extra charge, and the service was fast and efficient. La Playa also didn't have as many kids around, which we liked. The Ritz was PACKED with families and screaming babies and there were so many people around the pool (probably because no one wanted to pay a ridiculous price for an umbrella) that there were no relaxing spots available to sit by the pool. La Playa had many seats and was not crowded at either the beach or the pool. Most resorts try to nickel and dime you for everything, but we felt like La Playa was a lot better about that, and held up its end of the deal. « less

- We were looking for a quick but relaxing weekend beach get-away--didn't want thousands of kids running around, didn't want to have to fight for a chair on the beach or at the pool, and wanted good service. I travel about 40 weeks/yr for work and I stay in a lot of hotels, so I am admittedly pretty picky when traveling on my dime. We picked LaPlaya based on the reviews on Tripadvisor (better than most of the Marriotts & Ritz's in South FL) and we were not disappointed!
I can't say enough good things about this place, it was exactly what we were looking for, and looked even better in person than in the pictures! The rooms are tropical-themed, clean and well laid out - our view was nothing but the gulf, even from bed & the shower! The balconies are large with comfy furniture (we fell asleep out there twice!). The grounds are just lovely - lots of beautiful tropical landscaping, but also practical with lots of lounges, tables, umbrellas, etc. The pools are very nicely laid out, and the lounge chairs were not crammed in row after row on top of each other (like so many big resorts), which gave it a nice uncrowded feeling. Even on Saturday afternoon we were able to find chairs no problem. The beach here is fantastic, and since LaPlaya is in a residential area with no public beach parking close by, it is not crowded (can't say the same for the Ritz....the public access & parking garage is right next to it).
Dinner at their restaurant, Baleen, was quite good, if a bit pricey (but so is everything in Naples), and lunch at the tiki hut was much better than expected (the quesadillas and warm ham & swiss croissant were standouts). The only weak link was breakfast - overpriced & not very good. We picked up some things at Publix (less than 5 mins away) after the first day & had breakfast on our balcony. Service was great all around, from the parking attendants to the pool servers to the front desk & concierge - friendly, knowledgeable, responsive, and unobtrusive.
LaPlaya is our new favorite beach resort...we can't wait to return!!! « less
