- Don't go there thinking you will enjoy the hotel and its amenities. This is my second time staying on site and I have not been able to enjoy the pool, see the hula show, etc.
People that stay at the Loews hotel on site get one extra hour before they open the park. For the Harry Poter and the Forbidden Journey there is no express pass but if you are there by 8:00 a.m. when they open park for people that stay on site you get one hour and you will not have to wait that long to get on the ride.
The room at the hotel was very comfortable even though it is small.
I will definitely stay there again. « less

- Stayed here after 7 days at Disney. First Florida trip but stayed in US every year for past 5 years. Location of RPR cannot be faulted, and the express pass feature is a godsend BUT.. the hotel failed to live up to even the most basic needs of a guest. I will try to be as constructive as I can in this review.
We booked a family suite (we always get a suite wherever we go). The room was an "accessible" room - which meant no bathtub – only shower that allows a wheelchair in - fine if you want that but it meant that my kids soaked the floor. I felt the hotel should have indicated that it was an accessible room and the limitations this brought.
This may be a minor point but the room was advertised with a bathtub and my wife looks forwards to this after walking the parks all day.
The key flaw with this hotel is the noise levels you hear from the corridor in the rooms. Anyone booking should be aware that all the suites are the closest rooms to the lifts and the constant noise from the lifts and arriving guests made the room unbearable. The pool closes at 11pm so everyone piles out the lifts thereafter.
The corridors are just shells and every single sound echoes along it - initially I thought it was noisy guests (and to be fair some were plain rude with the noise they made at midnight) but in general it was a fundamental design flaw with the hotel - you can hear every single footstep along that corridor. There was no way you could attempt to sleep.
On calling the fron t desk they said sorry –some people complained about the noise but I could “buy” earplugs.
I asked to move rooms. This was when I was advised all suites were adjacent to the lifts. They refused to move me as the hotel was full. They also acknowledged that people complain about noise. I appreciate that with a full hotel they have limited options but, notwithstanding the odd “loud” guest, the hotel cannot reasonably sell $500 rooms with the level of noise that emanates from the corridor. Re-design, put doors in the corridors. The Ritz in Orlando was half the price – I wish we had stayed there and bought express pass tickets in the park.
A separate issue related to sloppy service from the Bula bar restaurant, where they delivered 3, not 4 meals to the room. Second attempt (30 minutes later) had no silverware. Again a small point which could be the luck of the draw. Check in and valet staff were exceptional I have to say, but I paid to sleep, and got none.
Went to the Ritz Sarasota afterwards – serene – hotels don’t get better than that. What a difference.
Summary – being on site has clear advantages. Don’t pay through the nose for a suite that offers no chance of sleep. Critical to en sure you are at the end of a corridor – or at least as far from the lift as you can manage. « less

- Our second stay here as we won't go to the Universal theme parks without staying on site to get UE access. Lovely resort with a great pool and nice but not large rooms. Staff were all very friendly, "Aloha"ing all over the place. Only negatives are the 18% service charge they add to everything including the beer you go up to the bar to get yourself, and the astronomical minibar charges. There is however room in the minibar to put your own drinks so you don't need to buy the $7 bottle of water if you come prepared. Free Wifi in the lobby but $10 in the room.
Early entrance to Islands of Adventure was great as Harry Potter is brilliant. I was told they were actually letting hotel guests into the park at 7.30am but the shortest queue we had for the ride was when we went through the single rider queue at 6.25pm and it took 3 minutes. Definitely recommend doing this as you can only talk to the rest of your party when you are in the queue and not on the ride. We were disappointed though that the early access to Universal Studios was not as written on the literature given to us at check in. You could only get into the park half an hour before off site guests and then the only rides open were Shrek and Jimmy Neutron. Had to wait until 8.45am for them to finish test running the Rip Ride and Rock It and let us on. Lot of very unhappy on site hotel guests and one member of staff close to tears. Hope they sort this out soon. « less

- If you are going to go to Universal this hotel is well worth the money. Rooms where adequate and clean but the position of the hotel to universal was great. The ability to fast pass nearly every ride in August was "awesome", I recommend u don't stay anywhere else. Oh by the way the boat trips are fun as well « less

I can't begin to tell you all the things we loved about this hotel. It's South Pacific style made us think we were in Hawaii but after just a day here we realized this place is much more like heaven.
Some of the highlights are:
THE POOL- Everyday there are hourly activities such as balloon toss or limbo contests for the children to stay happy and allows them to get to know other children.
They have cold water with fruit pieces in it at various locations around the pool for your refreshment as well as friendly pool attendants.
Evening "lighting"ceremony including hula dancers and live entertainment.
Complimentary evening movies by the pool
The poolside restaurant and bar are excellent for a drink, lunch or poolside snack.
You are also allowed to go to the HardRock and Loews Portofino pools if you are a guest here.
TRANSPORTATION - Water taxi, walking paths, shuttle bus or ride in a bike driven carriage.
We were so close to Universal and Universal CityWalk that we walked most of the time but the children liked the water taxi.
FOOD- one word:Delicious.
From room service, to the poolside restaurant, to those inside. Our compliments to the chef.
ROOMS- I find it hard to sleep all night in a hotel for various reasons. Mostly I can't ever get the room completely dark or it's too noisy. I LOVED the rooms because they I slept every night all night long. They were comfortable, dark and quiet.
YOUR ROOM KEY DOUBLES AS A FAST PASS - We never waited in line a moment at either Universal theme parks (and we went during spring break) THAT is worth the price of your room alone!
THE STAFF- They knew our name right away and did everything in their power to make sure we were happy. The only regret we had was that we did not leave bigger tips:-)
Those are just a few of the highlights.
I strongly recommend you stay here with children or without.
