Location. Set on 27 acres of lush Florida landscape, the Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld is centrally located in Orlando across the street from SeaWorld and Discovery Cove. The hotel provides guests with unique opportunities to swim with dolphins, feed tropical birds and explore reefs and grottos at the adjacent Discovery Cove adventure park. The hotel is one mile from the Orange County Convention Center and 11 miles from Orlando International Airport.
Hotel Features. Complimentary glasses of champagne welcome guests as they marvel at the lobby's oceanic décor consisting of flat-screen LCD panels featuring exotic sea life. Delectable dining can be found at MIST Sushi and Spirits Bar, at Boardwalk Sports Bar, and in Tradewinds Restaurant where three meals are served daily. A full-service Starbucks coffee is located on the lobby level. Poolside fare, smoothies and cocktails are available at the Palms Pool Bar & Grill.

Forty-eight meeting rooms offer 185,000 square feet of space for business meetings and other functions. An on- site business center, event catering and complimentary wireless Internet access are all available. A 24-hour fitness center is stocked with exercise bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines and free weights. The recreational area features an outdoor pool, two spa tubs, playground and tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. The Shamu Game Room delights younger guests, while a nearby 18-hole championship golf course is a golf lover's dream.

We're rather late with our review (our apologies) as were stayed at the Renaissance in October 2009. My husband and I had taken two friends along as a treat (so 2 x adjacent double rooms), as we had two very significant birthdays to celebrate, plus it was their first trip to Orlando, so we wanted somewhere special which would impress them and provide comfort. Well, the Renaissance certainly did that! We all loved the hotel and we had a fabulous 10 day holiday there.

Reay, a concierge, cannot be praised enough. He was so helpful when we had trouble with our hire car. He was also incredibly kind and helpful to me when he saw my mobility problems and he instantly produced a wheelchair for my use throughout our stay (an absolute godsend). Lovely man and a great asset to the hotel.

Next for thanks and compliments is Terry, the Front Desk Manager. Brilliant, friendly and always helpful. He always seemed to be around and he always had tickets for this or that, or for free drinks at various restaurants. Another lovely and helpful man. Resourceful too. Oh, and several times he gave us bottles of iced water when he saw us hot and weary.

Mike, a server at Tradewinds. Friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable about US wines. We really enjoyed chatting with him (and comparing notes about wine and roller coasters!).

As I've said, we really enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance, and it is the best location you could wish for for Seaworld. We were very impressed with the whole atrium and entrance areas, and our rooms were spacious (we had a great view over Seaworld, which we'd specifically requested), clean and extremely comfortable with plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. Splendid bathrooms too.

We had 3 or 4 evenings when we got "home" quite late and very tired after a busy day, so being able to just head for the hotel's restaurant, Tradewinds, was such a bonus. In our experience it is actually quite unusual to find such a great hotel restaurant, so this was a terrific surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed some brilliant food there - the Black Angus Burger is tremendous, likewise the Harris Ranch Ribeye Steak. The Lobster Bisque is a meal in itself! Great selection of wines too.

I'd read beforehand that the Renaissance serve an incredible breakfast, so we were looking forward to that. What I'd read was absolutely true - the buffet breakfasts at the Renaissance were superb, plentiful and delicious.

On our last day, needing to return the hire car early afternoon, we had lunch by the pool in the The Palms pool bar. What a lovely, relaxing hour that was!

Altogether a fantastic hotel, which ensured we had a fantastic holiday. We just cannot praise the Renaissance Orlando Resort enough. We will definitely stay there again, and will most certainly recommend it to friends or anyone.

I stayed at this hotel with my two young children (4 & 6) to visit SeaWorld. The location is very easy to find (I always get lost in Orlando...) and super convenient to SeaWorld front gates, which I walked with my kids across the parking lot. They do have a shuttle that runs quite infrequently (8:30 and 10:30 am), so we decided the walk would be fine - which turned out to be just fine.

The check-in process was very smooth and pain-free. Smartly dressed at front desk, knowlegeable, however, I did have to prompt him for my room upgrade -- even though I had pulled out my Platinum card and placed on the counter (hint, hint). Lots of help with questions regarding surrounding businesses, etc. There is a $15 fee per day to park in lot or $18 per day valet. You can come and go as much as you wish with hotel card used at parking gate.

The hotel is actually very spacious and beautiful inside. All hotel room doors face inward toward a soaring atrium. It is handsomely decorated in modern, tasteful decor. Not surprisingly, the decor is aquatic, but still very nicely done. I was given an upgrade due to my husband's Platinum status (yes, all those nights of business travel do pay off once in a while). So we were given a suite w/pull down bed and an adjoining hotel room with two queen beds (comfortable beds with nice fluffy pillows and comforters). The room was very clean and nicely furnished, although a bit dated was the furniture. Flat screen t.v. in both rooms. Suite had wet bar w/refrig and coffee maker . Super spacious suite and room. I would say a total of at least 1200 sq. ft. Lots of not-too-scratchy towels and clean bathrooms (a must!). So all-in-all, great.

Since I was alone with my children, i decided the best thing was to eat at the restaurant. (Oh yeah -- there is a Starbucks downstairs!) Make a long story short --- one waitress on a very busy friday night with a big gathering in one of the ballrooms that weekend. Your only choice for food is the sports bar -- which is open to the atrium mostly -- so does not really feel like a bar with the exception of tv screens showing various sports. The drinking "bar" is actually pretty seperate - so this is very acceptable for children in my book. Our food was very dissapointing: dried out cold hamburger ($6) for my son. Nasty cold pasta ($6) with oily sauce for daughter. Cold and dried out, stiff ($14) quesidilla for myself. The Drifter Pale Ale ($5) was pretty good though -- recommended. Night number 2 and we are tired from SeaWorld. It's late -- we are forced to go again. tell a different waitress about our previous night. Apologies. I dare order the quesadilla again (stupid, right?) -- however a warmer version is a little better, but not by much. Son's Mac-n-cheese (good thing he is a small eater) was tiny ($6) -- although mild and semi-cool the way he actually likes it. Daughter's grilled cheese ($6) was pathetically under-accomplished (did they beat it down with a spatula like mom used to do???),, and very small (4 tiny quarters). You can also order this c**p in your hotel room if you prefer.

Although, we did have breakfast at the Tradewinds one morning. It was very good, made to order everything. The guy made my kids pancakes with choc chips, side of bacon. Yummy. I had a delicious made to order omelet, fresh fruit and complimentary mini-smoothis brought to my table from the lovely server, Ray, before we even sat back down. There was every possible breakfast item to be had. Hot and delicious. Unfortunately, they are only open for breakfast. What???

Why can't the sportsbar take a clue from the pages of the Tradewinds Restaurant?

Stick to the sports bar for the beers and snacks (if you must). Find your dinner elsewhere. International Drive is right around the corner with every possible food offering. Just make sure you don't wait till the last minute like me!
