The only vending machines did not work and ice machine only worked on one floor. This need a major redo. « less

- I have read the other reviews and at times they are all correct! I have booked this hotel twice through kayak, and my stay was mixed. The Hotel staff are very nice, and the hotel and grounds are very clean, and I feel safe staying there. I view this hotel as "retro," meaning it has been around for awhile, and it reminds me of when I traveled with my parents 40+ years ago. The hotel is JUST off of I-4 and John Young parkway, so easy to the resorts or downtown orlando. I wanted to save money, so by my staying here, rather than a marriott, my expectations were lower, and I was willing to sacrifice money for less amenities. While some people are angry at this place, I would not hesitate to stay here if I needed to save a ton of money per night. It is a great stay for the kids because the place is safe, the staff are nice, and I really challenge people on the pool. I can name a number of prominent named hotels that charge twice the amount I paid, and the resort is LESS than this. I agree the food is not "high grade," but if you wanted hot buffet that is safe to eat, and inexpensive to pay for, you have that choice as well. If you paid over $100 then, you should be angry. If you paid what I paid, then why are you complaining? I checked that I would recommend this to a friend IF, and ONLY IF, they wanted a bed in a safe location, at the lowest cost, and quickly get to their location. I am a light sleeper so I choose rooms away from the highway, and I slept well... unless the kids down the hall run down the hall while yelling. But I find this problem elsewhere in Orlando! « less

- Did the cruise like everyone else and was told was staying at Ramada Maingate West. Good thing i didnt haul my luggage in because after waiting 30 min in line I was told that I was staying at "Ramada 1000" ..and i said WHAT! how is that possible and dude at front said because at the time i booked the trip(3 months in advance!!!) there were no rooms left at this hotel..funny because if they knew that than how come all the info i was sent by the cruise line was for maingate and it didnt mention this other hotel at all..i was pissed but he said it was 15 min away..worse part of the trip right here...so we put in the address on the paper in our gps and started driving. 30 min later got to some area where no hotel was! same street and everything...called the hotel, said i was lost. They said I should have taken I-4(not sure why my stupid gps lead me this way as we even typed in ramada 1000 and nothing came up) and he said i was 20 miles outta the way. Another 35-40 min later we finally ended up at the hotel and it's called RAMADA PLAZA no frekin ramada 1000 anywhere...no wonder why my gps did not take me there....so whatver went to check in and the lobby looked really nice and updated. said no kings available again in either smokin and non smoking so took 2 queens. nice thing about the room's were that they all had balcony. so said wanted a non-smoking because did not want a smelling room(the bf smokes)..but they said we can smoke but if someone complains then we'd have to stop...balcony people c'mon now..so we took a smoking room and she put us in one that hasn't been used alot...got to room at end of floor 3 and felt like i had to kick it in. not bad. decent look. the a/c was ripped off but still working. this room was too close to the highway and heard trucks n bikes right away so went back to counter and asked for another room not as noise. so put us closer to entrance of floor 3 but facing the parking lot. room was better when we walked in because the sun was shining through.
Got all free vouchers again and went to eat dinner buffet. Not bad just a little cold. whatever it was free...kinda walked off to see the rest of the hotel because staff was slow in the dining area. The outside looks pretty nice. Big pool. Jacuzzi area. could use a clean up. No people at all so that was nice. We hopped into the Jacuzzi later and it was just me and my bf so that was nice..until 1 black kid walked from this gate, hoppeed in the pool for a couple minutes , got out and left...so yah def did not feel safe as I'm sure it was some local taking his bath...ugh annoying. but yah we just sat in the jacuzzi which was not hott at all and you had to keep getting up and hitting the button every 15 min. brought our bottles from the cruise and drank em outside(even tho it said no glass bottles)
Hotel also had a bar area with pool table, dates, and lil dancing area. Gift shop. Im not sure if this hotel is under renovation or what the deal is but there was like 2 other little snack areas not open and a game room on 4 that was empty..so i was dissapointed that nothing was on/working. Ice on level 3 did not work. No vending machines on that floor either. okay place since close to the parks. « less
