Hotel Features. The Rosen Shingle Creek offers varied dining options including sophisticated Italian cuisine and casual fare at the pool bar and grille. The hotel has three bars. High-speed Internet access and 445,000 square feet of meeting space are featured. Rosen Shingle Creek boasts a 13,000-square-foot spa with nine treatment rooms. The on-site fitness center includes cardiovascular and weight training equipment. This Orlando hotel provides an outdoor pool and a children's pool. Tennis courts and golf courses are spread across the 230 acres.

Upon arrival, I was pleased to find out that my room was upgraded to an executive suite. The friendly desk clerk had phoned service to ensure that the bed was made up and I walked into a large room complete with bar/kitchen, sitting area and dining table. It was beautifully furnished.

However, service never arrived and the bed was missing pillows and blankets for quite some time. I called down two times that afternoon/evening to check in on it and after sending someone up who did not speak English and couldn't understand what the room needed, someone else brought up pillows and blankets and laid them on the bed in a pile and left. So I'm supposed to make the bed?

Despite the lovely furnishings, the bed was actually quite uncomfortable as well - a hard double mattress sitting on top of a modern raised platform, no box spring.

Also, the layout of the room was a little strange - it wasn't segmented out the way a lot of hotel suites are - where there are different "rooms" within the suite - it's more like a studio apartment. And while the bathroom was right across from the bed, the closet was all the way on the other side of the suite, next to the dining table - not ideally placed. That's not a huge deal except that there was nothing to set a suitcase on - no baggage holder, nothing. I didn't exactly want to put it on the dining room table.

The hotel charged by the day for internet service - about $12; guests paid for parking. Also, the hotel is a little isolated from other restaurants, etc in the area, that are not within the campus.

The restaurants inside the hotel really encourage you to eat off of the buffet, which made it hard to understand why service was slow/ missing (despite the conference crowds). There is a good selection on the buffet but that's not always the ideal choice for a business lunch; although neither is having to flag someone random down to run your bill because your waiter has disappeared.

The exhibit area is good - lots of sitting areas upstairs and around the rooms which is helpful. This hotel seems to have the conference business down, it just needs to work on its guest experience. « less

This is a fairly new resort with a golf course surrounding it. Very nice rooms and service. It is 20-30 minutes from Disney World.
