Very clean and boat shuttle to city walk was great, too far to walk to park unless time is not an issue, the bike transporters were also a fun was to get around. Pools were very nice. Walked around the hotel and decor was very authentic. Would stay again « less

Express Passes and Water Taxi Service work great
Great Pools, really nice pool staff
Being able to get into WWOHP early was invaluable.
Several restaurants on site. Citypass as well.
Negatives:
We stayed 6 nights and I think our room was cleaned a total of 3 times. Maid service was extremely slow. We kept seeing them in the hallway but they never seemed to get to our room.
Front desk could use some customer service training. Might as well have been in line at the DMV, especially at check-in.
Every restaurant was Italian. I get it... sort of, but could have used some variety.
Ordered from room service once, and spent 10 minutes being told things we were ordering were no longer on the menu. Finally suggested it mght be easier to order if we had an updated menu, which they brought us. When our food finally arrived it was the wrong food, they had switched our cart with another room. All in all a waste of time.
Surprisingly we had a horrible experience at Mama Dellas. It was the place I was most looking forward to going, but the wait staff was horrible. We were brought other people's food over and over, and never got part of our order. Our waiter disappeared. It took forever which was not fun with small children. Worst service...ever....period.
I think this hotel got it's good rating based on it's beauty and location. They throw in a lot of extras like opera singers, and free movies in the courtyard. But if they want to keep their rating they need to go back to the basics and focus on good old fashioned customer service. « less

- We spent 3 nights in a deluxe room at the Portofino. Initially, we were very impressed by the hotel until we woke up on the 3 day with large, red welts on our bodies ( we are two adults and a 7 year old)
We immediately contacted the hotel and they told us that bedbugs had been reported recently but not in our room! They said they would start a case file for us and we could submit any bills related to charges we incurred for cleaning or infestation !!!
We are shocked that we did not recieve an apology but merely the company line regarding a matter as serious a bedbug infestation !
Do not stay here, it is clearly not worth the expense and trouble of having to contend with bringing back bedbugs into your home and then for management not to offer an apology or any compensation immediately but rather to say that we could submit the invoices and they would start a case file is simply too much, especially for what the Portofino is charging !!! « less Read management response to this review.

- We looked all over Orlando to find a spot that would allow my husband and I to have a luxurious vacation, but to also keep our children entertained. We thought we found it at Portofino Bay. The hotel was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the grotto slide that is constantly mentioned in the ads, worked only 2 HOURS of our 6 day trip. No one had a straight answer for what was going on--some employees didn't even know they had a slide. The manager didn't see what the big deal was. Well, when you pay $330+/night to get a hotel with a slide, you want the slide to be working more than 2% of the time you are there.
Other thoughts:
-The express-pass is awesome!
-Club level was very nice--the "mid-day break" is a bit sparse, but otherwise good selection/quality
-beautiful grounds made a nice walk to/from Universal
-staff was friendly
-the pool had comfortable chairs, great music piped in, multiple hot tubs--overall really nice, just a shame about the slide « less
