- My wife and 11 and 7 year old daughters traveled here the week of 8/21/10. We travel usually to Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton's and the Breakers service was the best I have ever experienced. Every single employee goes out of their way to make the adults AND children feel very special.
The many pools offer a wide choice of options for whatever you are looking for. Since we had children, we loved the active family zero entry pool right next to the beach entrance. We rented a Bungalow each day that overlooked the pool. These Bungalows were spectacular with private showers, bathrooms, plasma Tv's,refrigerators, couches and private lounge chairs and umbrellas. You also have your own private concierge/butler to serve you all day long.
If I had one complaint about the hotel, it would be the food. The prices are very expensive which is to be expected, but the portions are very small and the food is somewhat average. « less

- This is a beautiful hotel, but if you are traveling with more than one person - meals and extras can get very expensive, very quickly. Rent a car and go into West Palm Beach.
Beautiful facility, grounds, pools, etc. Walls seem a little thin - could hear noise from hallways. No free access to computers (had to pay $20.00 to use hotel computers) - seemed a little cheap for such a luxury hotel. « less

- From the moment I drove up to the hotel, one word can explain my thoughts: wow. The driveway leading to the hotel is amazing. The service is amazing. The rooms are posh. The views of the ocean are amazing. Try to stay in a room with a view of the ocean. Opening the patio doors to that view is great. The amenities, from pools to the beach and cabanas are immaculate. The hotel is great for families and couples. I recommend it for anyone looking for a 3 day getaway on the East Coast. « less

- I recently stayed at the Breakers with my family for 5 days. The hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. I was impressed with the staff, you could tell that they were proud to work for the hotel and every staff encounter was positive. The hotel is expensive but within reason for the service you receive. The hotel service is on par with the Ritz Carlton not the Hampton Inn, so it is a matter of what you are looking for. The hotel offers 4 pools, a small beach, numerous restaurants and enough activities to keep busy or just relax by the pool or beach.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Breakers and will consider it again in the future. It was nice to find such a great place and still stay within the U.S. In my opinion, if you are considering Bermuda or the Caribean, try the Breakers instead, you'll be glad you did. « less

- I must preface this review by saying we originally were planning to stay at the Ritz in Palm Beach, as our family has spent at least 18 vacations since our twins were born at a Ritz property-all with excellent stays. However, as a Florida native whose parents were Breakers' fans, I was eager for our family to try the resort. What a wise decision for a rare family vacation ( since children are now college juniors).
The Breakers is wonderful resort with the charm and feel of a bygone era-the paintings, architecture and property are wonderful-they reminded me of the Greenbrier at the beach, if you will. There is renovation taking place in the main courtyard which is problematic, but the management sent up a card offering to move guests to different rooms if the construction was a problem. That touch would probably have been better offered before checking into the original room instead of after te first night's stay.
The bell, valet and housekeeping staff are fabulous-polite, attentive and kind. They exceeded our expectations in almost every area. The wait staff at the restaurants were excellent for the most part-tip of the hat to the staff at the breakfast each morning and at the Beach Club.
The Spa staff were warm, friendly, and helpful and the ambience was superb. On the downside, the staff in the Seafood Bar were slow and did not seem as responsive to patrons needs as elsewhere at the Breakers. The biggest hassle was with the front desk staff who seemed to have an ongoing problem trying to determine how to handle ou family's charges. Incidentals and rooms fees kept moving from one credit card to another -at one point at 1600 "charge" had been applied to myy AMEX because we had asked that our children's incidentals be applied to that card. The Breakers management must pay closer attention to billing detail-dealing with those issues took pleasure away from our trip.
While the rooms are lovely, our kind and double-bedded rooms in the north wing were, IMO , very dated-like something out of the Kennedy's Ocean Avenue home from the sixties. Current website pictures are not congruent with rooms we stayed in. If you need a double-bedded room, be prepared to pay more for that-the 249$ summer special or the 199$ special on most websites that I found would not allow agents to book a double room, so we ended up booking through the Breakers at 280$! Over the course of 4 night stay the difference was significant. For the Breakers to empahsize family-oriented activities, they must work out this aspect of their booking issue or simply be upfront that family-oriented (sibling) bedding will cost more.
Those issues not withstanding, the Breakers have won our family over-we plan to return there as soon as possible. A late afternoon at the Serenity Pool with a drink and a magazine will easily transport a weary soul into a far better place! « less
