- The resort is very lovely and clean but unless you own a timeshare at this resort you will be treated like a second class citizen. The "view" that you think you are getting when you make your reservation is of a bunch of palm trees and the giant crane working on sand relocation. There is not much to do for young adults unless you leave the resort. The business center had 5 computers and none were working at the time I needed them. And you will not receive housekeeping services unless you pay extra. (Since once again...you aren't an owner.) There are other very nices hotels in West Palm Beach...you do not want to stay here. « less

- My family has been coming to Ocean Pointe every year since 2003 and we love it. Our kids loved this place as children and they still love it now that they are teenagers. After arriving at the airport, we make a stop at a Publix Supermarket (there are several of them close by, one in City Place in West Palm Beach and another just north of Singer Island. The villas have fully equipped kitchens with dishes, small appliances, everything you need to make yourself at home. There is no supermarket directly on Singer Island (except a small bag-your-own place, which I tried but would not recommend), but the Publix markets are huge and are very close by, just check out a Publix Website before you go and you'll know just where to find them. The beaches and pools are magnificent. The water is warm, the beaches are super clean, the ocean water is crystal clear. They have adult-only exercise/swim time every morning for a few hours at one of the pools. We always get a two-bedroom villa so that the family has plenty of room to hang out when we need a break from the sun or when it rains. There are two full bathrooms, plus an extra bathroom sink and tub which makes getting ready a snap for our large family. The villas have washers and dryers, so we don't have to bring a ton of clothes which is great now that airlines charge for luggage. The tiki bar has excellent food if you want to get something to eat without cleaning up and leaving the resort, and the service is very good. There are a couple of excellent restaurants within walking distance (not a short walk though), Portofinos (Italian) is my favorite, and the Sailfish Marina is another good one (they have outstanding sweet potato fries). Panama Hatties is a really good seafood place just north of Singer Island. When it rains or we just need a break from the sun, we go to City Place in West Palm Beach, which is a short drive down I-95 (don't take Broadway/1/5, it does not go through a good part of town on the way down to West Palm Beach). Take Blue Heron to I-95 South, then go east on Okeechobee and you're there. There is a movie theater with an arcade, tons of restaurants and shops, they have small outdoor bands there on the weekends, and it's just a beautiful place to go to get out of the sun or to spend a rainy afternoon (we saw Don King there at the Cheesecake Factory one year). The people who work at the check-in counter at Ocean Pointe do not seem to know a lot about the services in the area, but the servers at the tiki bar know all the nearby restaurants, night spots for young adults, etc. They were a wonderful source of information. I have paid the premium price for oceanfront views which are magnificent. But I have also saved a little money by getting the units on the side of the buildings. At least the villas still have awesome views of the ocean, can't vouch for one of the regular rooms as I have never stayed in one of those. I have always requested a villa in one of the older buildings. There is a new building at the very south end of the resort, and it has a huge ugly metal thing right on the beach in front of it. The other four buildings have beautiful views. My family goes to Ocean Pointe in the summer. It is not crowded, there is always plenty of room in the pools and on the beaches, and the weather is usually in the mid to upper 80's in June which is not too hot. If you do a little research before your trip to find your favorite restaurants, you will have a fabulous time. I would not rely on the hotel staff to help you out with that. Or just cruise along I-95 from PGA Blvd. north of Ocean Pointe to Okeechobee south of the resort, and you will find lots of restaurants, stores, malls, etc. The staff's lack of knowledge of the area and the huge metal object on the beach in front of the new building are my ONLY criticisms of this resort. It is the only place we have ever returned to, and this summer will be our 8th visit. Not only is it really beautiful, spacious, relaxing, etc., it is also very economical compared to other oceanfront resorts in Florida. We all love this place and plan to keep coming back every year! « less

- We had such a lovely experience at Marriott's Ocean Pointe. Life is lived at such an easy, leisurely pace. The beach is full and beautiful, and the pools are all heated! The food is delicious. Service is impeccable, and everyone is especially friendly. The views of the ocean and the bay are just breath taking. The fitness room has the latest equipment, and security is a priority. We will definitely return to Marriott's Ocean Pointe. « less

- We stayed here two nights a couple of weeks ago. We had a guest room in the last building of the main complex with a partial ocean view. To be honest the view wasn't the greatest and the little peak of the ocean was more of a tease than anything else but the room rate was excellent and so we didn't feel that we had room to complain. The weather in Florida was very cold while we were there but we made the best of it. Ocean Pointe kept their pools and hot tubs at a perfect temperature for swimming and soaking.
The resort is kept incredibly clean and is clearly well attended. While we were there they were installing new flat screen televisions in our building. Our guest room was clean and had a microwave and small fridge. Having dishes and utensils is an added bonus and enabled us to bbq supper on one of their bbq grills and enjoy a meal on our little balcony.
Our middle daughter made excellent use of the kids activities and the staff in this area were excellent. They paid special attention to the kids and made sure that there were lots of activities, this really helped to offset the inconvenience of the unseasonably cold temperatures.
The surrounding area does not have many amenities but we found that we really appreciated hitting the grocery store once and then just crashing at the resort, it was nice not to move the car from the garage for two days.
We walked on the beautiful beach in front of the resort and we felt completely safe going all the way up the beach. This is important to note since last year when we were in Miami we were robbed in broad daylight so the fact that we felt safe in the area even after that experience has to mean something. The area around the resort is aging and that cannot be ignored but I honestly don't believe that it is as bad as some of the reviewers expressed.
The internet is free and it is wireless but please be aware that it is not the best of service. When we were here in March of 2009 we had the same problems with the internet that we experienced once again on this trip. The internet just isn't the best quality, the connection drops suddenly and regularly and this is a pain. « less

- I can't believe the previous reviewers stayed at the same resort. The drive through Riviera Beach was scary. I would never normally walk anywhere in this area, but of course we had to since we were in the newer unit separated by the grungy hotel. We asked for a top floor, but were told they were all in use by owners but that we did have an ocean view. We did have an ocean view but there was a huge crane right outside on the beach. It was a joke. No real food on site except for Pizza Hut, so we ordered delivery from a Chinese place they recommended. The experience was unbelievable - they kept going to the main building and we told them to come down to Kingfisher building. My husband waited outside for 30 minutes. The front desk kept calling us and complaining that this delivery guy was asking for us. Why they didn't send him to the correct building we will never know.
There is nowhere close by to eat or shop. And I mean nothing. The Walgreen’s over the bridge is the only decent place within 5 miles to buy staples, soda, water, etc (except of course at the Marketplace with their extremely high prices).
The beach and pools are nice - but nothing outstanding. Certainly doesn't make up for the horrible location.
I have been staying at Marriott timeshares for 15 years and I can say this is the worst experience I've had at any Marriot timeshare - or any timeshare - ever.
Stay away - this place is a waste of time. « less
