- Marriott Ocean Pointe is gorgeous. We had a 2-bedroom unit in Pompano on the 7th floor and the views were spectacular. The master bedroom and the 2nd bedroom both had king beds. The kitchen was fully stocked and I didn’t have to ask for one thing. Everything worked perfectly. I cooked every meal in the room, which makes for a nice quiet family getaway vacation for us.
The beach has gorgeous soft beige sand and you can walk for long stretches at a time. The water was so crystal clear that we wished we had brought our snorkel gear.
The pools were clean and the children’s activities were abundant. My kids participated in several of the activities, many were free. I personally loved the free aqua exercise and pool kick boxing classes held every morning.
Marriott has done it again with another great Vacation Club, which I felt was a great place for all ages. Seniors down to small children.
My only wish would be that the Marriott would put their beach chairs and umbrellas out on the beach. Umbrella & beach chair usage rent was over $200 for a week from a separate company called Oceanside, but we chose the 3 day plan and paid $75 plus tax. We always prefer the beach over the pool. « less

- Having read all the reviews I was concerned. I am a travel agent with lots of experience at staying at timeshares.
Ocean Pointe is a Marriott timeshare property made up of 5 sets of buildings. Behind the buildings they all connect EXCEPT the last one which is called Kingfisher. There is a private condo building separating the KINGFISHER building from the rest of the complex. For this reason, the Kingfisher building is not a very desirable location. Unless you want piece and quite. Rule of thumb would be to avoid this building. Kingfisher does have its own pool and workout room and outside bbqs.
My sister and I were in a two bedroom on the 4th floor right to the left of the registration building (sailfish building I think). Our view was the big common pool and the ocean. The view was 10/10. The room had been redone and I would give it a 10/10 also. Everything was fresh and all new kitchen. Excellent supplies and since we were nightly guests (3 nights) we had daily housekeeping which was excellent.
The staff at this timeshare / hotel were excellent. Every single person was friendly and helpful.
Free parking in a secure lot was nice.
Around pool you have Market place for nice coffee and ice cream and items to stock up your fridge. (cashless - charge or room charge) - Pizza Hut by pool and Tiki bar which served light food items. Nice kids room and activities I could see.
Beach is a very short walk out the back gate behind the pool.
Publix - Turn right outside and continue along A1 through state park and it will be on your right .... keep and eye out. In Publix mall is a restaurant called BONEFISH.... chain and it is excellent!!
You can stay on resort and enjoy without going off. If going off you will need a car since nothing is really around the resort.
Wifi - Ths resort has it so bring your laptop if you wish. Phone the front desk for the password. « less

- We arrived here 18 hours ago for a week's stay after exchanging our time share for this facility through Interval International. So far, we're not impressed. In fact, we are thinkiing of leaving before our week's stay is up. Our unit #3107 is an efficiency and is very similar to a 10 year old 2 star hotel you'd find at any interstate exit. It's fairly clean but shows wear and inadequate maintenance. The tub took about 10 minutes to drain after a shower. Sleep was difficult because of the very loud AC unit next to the bed. Worst of all, the "view" from the balcony is of what appears to be a condemmed condo building on the adjacent lot. If I stand and look at just the right place though I can catch a glimpse of the ocean. We did request a room with a view but were refused even though there appears to be many unused units this week. The building we were sent to is not adjacent to the main part of the resort but is down the street a ways with the previously mentioned abandoned-looking building in between. We're in a non-descript neighborhood and seem to be at least a 15 minute drive from all local points of interest. Of course, shortly after arrival we were subjected to a sales pitch but I don't think we'll be choose to endure that. I'll write another review after our time here is up. « less

- Just got back this morning after a week at the Marriott's Ocean Pointe, which we approached with some anxiety having read some of the poor reviews of the hotel on this site. The truth could not be more different, it was a great place and my 6 year old, my wife and i all feel thoroughly refreshed and re-charged. People had said it was an unsafe area, which i just didn't see, maybe i have a little more life expereince but there are MUCH rougher places in the world. The area immediately around the hotel is safe and i must have seen 2 or 3 patrolling police cars each day as we strolled to the restaurant or beach etc. The area about a mile or so away is a little more run down but nothing like as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe and the truth is that you will have no reason to wander around there anyway.
There are a number of apartment buildings and i would definitely agree that if you can, avoid the Kingfish building as it is away from the main complex of pools/bars/marketplace etc but other than that i don't think you can go wrong. We stayed in the Dolphin building which was not the newly refurbished building but still comfortable. The beach was amazing, 85 degrees in the water, crystal clear and shallow enough to walk out for some distance if you didn't want to swim. Saw some sting rays whilst swimming and had to dive out pretty quick when the life-guard saw a shark but that added to the wonderful holiday rather than detracting, at the end of the day if you swim in the ocean what do you expect! My son learnt to swim without arm-bands and a lot of the guests had young children as well, this is definitely a family place. We also enjoyed the disco's and kids cinema night though there was plently of other MAZE based activities that we chose to opt out of, more for relaxation purposes. We also, like may other reviewers, ate at Johnny Longboats which was good but the best night was when we went to Palm Beach to E J Bradley's with a nice view over the harbour.
The only downside to the whole Marriott set up is that they're very focused on trying to sell you their new points deal and in the end i had to tell them to stop calling us about it and after that i found them less interested in us than before which felt a little overtly obviuos in it's commercial approach.
All in all a great week with fond memories, a real tick and return! « less
