Casa Monica Hotel, a Kessler Hotel

Constructed in 1888 and once host to the King and Queen of Spain, the Casa Monica Hotel, is a restored Moorish-revivalist castle. Centrally located in historic St. Augustine, Fla., the five-story hotel is a block from St. George Street’s shops and one-half mile from the Castillo de San Marcos and the Old St. Augustine Village. History and romance come alive at the Casa Monica Hotel, providing a unique experience. An arched roof entryway looms over a cobblestone path leading to the Moroccan-style lobby that features a fountain and tiled floors. A sweeping staircase takes guests down to a sundeck overlooking a pool. Shoppers can delight in the hotel’s jewelry shop, perfume shop and art gallery. Guests young and old can enjoy the walking ghost tour, for a fee, of St. Augustine. The guided tour visits hundred-year-old homes and the Castillo de San Marcos, widely believed to be haunted.
