I live out of state and was worried about the details of my wedding but Diana, our even coordinator, made all of our dreams come true and more, we had our perfect dream wedding and all of the employees were so wonderful!!!! « less

- My wife and I were to stay at the Grand Plaza for 3 nights from August 20-22, 2010. Due to issues with our airline flight we didn't arrive until very late on August 20th. We checked-in and went directly to our room to get some sleep. Overall, our initial impression of the property and our room is that it was a bit outdated and in need of upgrades. However, we typically pay more for a room so all things considered it was probably worth the price we paid.
When we woke in the morning my wife went out on the balcony to discover a pair of men's underwear on our balcony. We guessed that it had somehow fallen from a guest room above during the night, so this was something the hotel probably couldn't control. My wife then went to take a shower. This caused a major issue, as a very strong sewer smell began coming from the drain and we could not go into the bathroom without becoming nauseous. We quickly packed our things and went to the front desk to report the issue. The people at the front desk were very nice. They said they would immediately send maintenance up to look at the issue. In the meantime we were without a room, and the hotel did not have any equivalent or better rooms available. The front desk attendant helped us contact another resort on St. Pete Beach, The Don Cesar, and we moved there for the remainder of the weekend.
Overall, the people at the Grand Plaza were very friendly and tried to accommodate us as much as possible considering the circumstances. However, it has been difficult to get our money back for the final 2 nights of our stay. We prepaid for the stay through Orbitz and therefore had to go through them for a refund. Each time we call Orbitz they call the hotel to verify the circumstances and our shortened stay. However, no manager has been available each of the 3 or 4 times that this has been attempted. We hope to get this straightened out soon. « less

- My wife and I stayed here for two nights after we renewed our wedding vows. This hotel is located near many of St. Pete Beach's resorts along the shoreline. The price was comparable to some of the other resorts in the area, but frankly for what we received it was a waste of money. We would have been better off staying at a La Quinta Inn.
First, I have never heard of a hotel having a roach problem on the ninth floor, but this one does. In a span of two days we found three roaches crawling around our room. The floor was tile but felt that it had simply been mopped with water and no cleaner. The floor was grimy. Leave your shoes on!
This hotel advertises that it has an internet connection but without getting one of their technicians you will never get on. Should I also say it might take you a day to get one of their technicians, and even then it is doubtful you will get a quick fix.
The state of the bathroom in our room was horrible. I have seen better constructed bathrooms in a bar in a poor Croatian village. The management of this hotel should be ashamed of themselves to pass this hotel off as a resort. I could build a better bathroom and I am not in construction. The grouting in many places was missing or peeling. Cabinets have been repaired with simple pieces of wood nailed to their sides. Absolutely appalling.
In our view the only thing attractive about this hotel is it's location at the beach but with so many other resorts in the area for sure we will choose one of them. « less

- This hotel was nice and clean. We has a partial ocean view and it was wonderful to see the ocean from our room. The beach was clean and not too crowded. We were able to see the dolphins swim nearby. Hotel is walking distance to Publix supermarket, Dollar Tree store, CVS etc. Spinners restaurant is upstairs from the hotel and the food is very good at a decent price. Beds were big and comfortable. Room had a DVD player so you can bring your movies or rent the movies from the gift shop. Front desk has towels for the beach which was nice. Overall our experience was excellent and can't wait to go back. « less

The windows were 30 feet wide and 14 feet tall so the view made up the difference. Jackie was th lady who took care of our room and she was super. The staff is nice, but as some reports say, the hotel shows a little age, but that makes it unique. « less
