- My family and friends of ours have now being going to the Gulf strand for the last 9 years for the last couple of years we have seen the property deteriorate, and repairs that we reported last year that needed doing this year had still not been done. Our friends stayed in our apartment from last year and were very disapointed with the condition. We love the Gulf Strand and we have made some really good friends there over the years and for this reason we keep coming back, the location is perfect the views the sunset are amazing. This year though I heard a lot of people complaining about the standard of the rooms and really think the Gulf Strand need to listen to there customers and ensure that the units are maintained. They were beautiful when we first started staying at the Gulf Strand and I have to say when Rebecca worked there the property was maintained to a much higher standard. The rates would be good value for money if the standard of the property was increased. The cleanliness of our room on arrival was appauling the floors were filthy we found an old baseball hat under the bed covered in dust and one of the blinds was just thrown under the bed, none of the floors had been cleaned. The fridge doors had no compartment holders so everything fell out of the the fridge, lights didnt work properly, it is these small things that make the difference, we also for the first time in 9 years had to endure nights with hardly ANY sleep due to a unit being let out to young people who partied all night and screamed and ran up and down corridors at 4am in the morning banging and slamming doors lots of residents reported this but nothing was done. We have always loved the Gulf Strand and have not experienced this there before. We really want to return again next year as it is like a second home to us and our friends and we will give it one more chance but please Gulf Strand sort out your cleaners and sort out the units........we have had 9 great years there and would like to have many more. it would be sad for us to have move on. « less

- My husband and I have just returned from a 17 night stay in room 501 Gulf Strand. We have stayed here in this unit before and would not stay in any other as it has everything that we could want. The rooms are spacious, 6ft wide bed with ensuite shower and toilet plus another full bathroom. Open plan full kitchen, dining area and lounge with sofa bed if required which has everything that we could want. Washing machine/dryer and even a cupboard with a couple of beach chairs and play things for children if you would like to use them while you are there. The balcony for us is the main reason for our coming back here as it has a nice high breakfast table and chairs where you can sit and look over the balcony at the wonderful view of St Pete Beach and also lounge chairs and stools where you can just watch the world go by and of course in the evenings see the wonderful sunsets from the privacy of your own balcony. We do feel though that the unit will soon need to be re-vamped a little as the shower is very tired looking and the tiles need attention but was clean. I would recommend the position of the Gulf Strand as there are many eating and shopping facilities very close by. « less

- Stayed in Unit 401 from May 7-15th,2010. This unit needs to be updated with new furniture and bathrooms need to be updated as well. For a few thousand dollars this unit could look fantastic. Otherwise clean and o.k. The gulf front location and the views of the gulf (especially the sunsets) make this resort a fantastic bang for the buck. The resort is very clean and has a great pool, although a little small. Strategically located across from Dolphin Shopping Center which has Grocery store, pharmacy and a bunch of other little stores including restaurants. The location and beach access makes this place a sure bet. « less

- I accompanied family members to St Pete for medical purposes. We reserved a condo at Gulf Strand so that our loved one could recover from surgery on the beach & be near the doctor for follow-up visits. We found our Gulf Strand condo to be dirty upon our arrival. Fold out sleeper-sofa unusable due to dirt & dirty mattress pad. Floors were filthy with lots of hair, sand & dirt. Remotes on tv didn't work, lights didn't work & the condo was generally unkempt & in need of several repairs. Talked to people in another condo who had the same complaint that their condo was also dirty. Staff on site was unresponsive. Off site management responded by asking us many many questions & generally approaching our complaints as if the situation was our fault. We drove down the street, found beach front property with friendly staff & cheaper prices & promptly made our reservation for our next stay! Their loss & our benefit! « less
