I was a little apprehensive about staying here after seeing that it was rated only #9 out of 13 hotels in Stuart on Tripadvisor. We basically flipped a coin between this motel and the Best Western right across the street, and about the same price. Fortunately, in spite of my inital apprehension we were completely satisfied with our 4 night stay here in January 2010. The room was much larger than we imagined. It came with a microwave and refrigerator, and included a number of unexpected surprises like a sofa bed and coffee table, a work desk with swivel office chair, and several travel size toiletries in the bathroom that were replenished daily.
The housekeeping staff at this motel was very good. I asked for more pillows at the front desk as we were checking in, and they were already in our room when we opened the door. One day we were shorted on clean hand towels, and they were brought
to our door about 2 minutes after i complained.
We took advantage of the comfortable lounge chairs by the pool on several occasions and even swam in the heated pool - a real bonus during Florida's recent cold spell.
It was far too cold to go in the ocean or use any of our friend's unheated pools,
but this pool was nice and warm.
We didn't use the hotel's restaurant or Tiki bar, but we did use the free computers in the lobby every day to keep up with our banking and email. Both the restaurant and Tiki bar seemed to attract alot of locals. Several nights we even had difficulty
finding a parking space close to our room due to their popularity.
We took advantage of the daily breakfast that was included with the room rate.
As I expected, the food was poor quality and completely ordinary in every way,
so no surprises there, but it was certainly better than getting in the car and going out for breakfast every day. I was quite happy that granola was offered as one of the
daily cereals - that helped alot. It was nice to read the free "USA Today" newspapers
that were in the lobby while we ate our breakfast. As stated in many previous comments, "The Waffle Man" was the best part of the breakfast room. He's something else. We tipped him two bucks every morning just for the "show".
One odd thing during our stay - I had to agree in writing at check-in that we had no pets, however we saw several dogs there during our stay and also heard barking on one occasion . I think there were at least 3 pit bulls staying there. I asked about it at
check-out and was told they were "service dogs in training". Really????
A pit bull with a studded collar in training to be a service dog???? Hmmmmm.......
Overall, we were completely satisfied with the room and the motel. I had booked
the room online in December for $61.00 a night - what a great deal!
I'm quite sure that we will stay here again the next time we are in Stuart,
rather than take a chance on the Best Western. i would highly recommend this motel
to anyone and actually did just that to the friends in Stuart that we were visiting for any of their other company. « less
