- This hotel is as good as it gets for a beach hotel. I mean this to apply to every category. It's clean, its' suites are roomy and it is right on a beautiful beach. The parking is excellent considering its location on a barrier island in the Tampa Bay area. The staff is responsive and helpful. The price is reasonable. In short this Residence Inn should be one of the most attractive places to stay on Florida's West coast. The lack of elevators has a truly ruinous effect. The cleaning staff can't get to the rooms on time, and they grumble about using the same elevator as the guests. The guests continually complain about the slow access to their rooms. They are right. Too bad, it's a fatal flaw. « less

- We stayed at this Residence Inn at the beginning of July 2010. My family of 4 enjoyed ourselves so much - can't wait to come back. We have a 2 year old, and a 5 year old, and this hotel really was great for small kids. Here's the scoop:
Location:
Excellent, right on the beach!! The view is great from most of the rooms, we were on the fourth corner room, and the view was spectacular. Treasure Island is mostly hotels and restaurants - no boardwalk or night life activity. For us that was fine since we have small children. Close enough to Clearwater for broadwalk if you want.
The Beach:
The beach was not crowded at all! At any time of the day, we could find some nice spot to setup. The best part was the sandbar that would appear in the afternoon when the tide was out. We could literally wade out past the markers and only be up to our knees. My five year old was able to walk out on the sandbar - without many waves to knock her down - and I felt comfortable that she could walk back without being in danger. The water was crystal clear, warm in the shallow parts, and comfortable out further. So great for little kids - my two year old LOVED wading in the water without getting knocked down. I would come back to this location just for the sandbar!!! Not too shelly either - we did St. Pete Beach a few years back, and it was definitely more shelly south of here.
Room:
We were in a corner 1 bedroom King Suite. Our 5 year old slept on the sofa (didn't need to pull out the bed, she's pretty small) and our 2 year old slept on an air mattress that we brought (sofa bed too high up for her). We stayed in the bedroom which was separated from the rest of the suite. This was wonderful for naptimes mid-day - they were pooped and slept in the living room area, while we enjoyed the balcony in our room. The suite had 2 balconies, so that was a great plus too. The room was very clean and staff did a good job of cleaning up after us. The bathroom was a good size for our family - didn't feel crowded at all. And the best part was that we NEVER EVER heard our neighbors next door, above or below us. Rooms offered a lot of privacy and sound barriers. That was GREAT!!!
Kitchen:
Our room had a fully functional kitchen, full fridge. Excellent for having lunch in the room after a morning at the beach. Dishware, silverware provided, along with a dishwasher, microwave/oven. It was great to have the option of eating in the room after going to the grocery store OR going out to eat. With little kids, it's good to break it up.
Pool:
Great pool - fully shaded in the morning, nice and hot in the afternoon. It gets crowded in the afternoon as expected. It was clean, and was a good depth. Steps on both end, the deepest being about 5-6 foot in the middle. Great for our little ones - we would spend a lot of the morning in the pool, and then out to the beach.
Beach Towels:
Provided - great size - for pool or beach. Just exchange them for clean ones at the front desk. Great plus for families that are plagued with wet towels all day long!
Breakfast:
Nice selection for a continental breakfast. Nothing special, but they try to rotate things a bit. The kids LOVED it, fresh fruit, cereal, hot items too. Great kids cups, kept clean and refreshed by staff. Very laid back and easy going, just what you want when you're tired and sleepy with kids raring to go!
Manager's Cocktail Hour thing:
Nothing too exciting, some appetizers for munching, and decent wine and beer. If you've got time, great, if not, not a big lose.
Parking:
Included in room price. This was actually not the norm for a lot of the hotels in the Clearwater/St. Pete area. Seems like it should be pretty standard.
Free Wireless Internet:
This was nice too. A little confusing , initial screen makes it appear that there is a charge - but no credit card info is ever requested. We verified with front desk that this was a free feature - excellent!
No Hidden Resort Fees:
I was happy to say that there were no surprise "resort fees", "room fees", etc on our bill. Price is fair and true to what they say.
Final thought - I would come back to this hotel in a heartbeat. We had such a relaxing, beach vacation with all the perks and ammenities we could want. I wanted something on the beach, reasonable, with pool and relatively new and clean. We were very very pleased with this location/hotel/staff/service. We'll be back! « less

- I'm thoroughly impressed by this gem on the Gulf! We stayed in a hotel just south of here for our honeymoon four years ago, and thought that hotel was nice, until we stayed here. My husband and I are traveling with 4 children ages 10-14, on a limited budget. Everything has been spectacular even from the reservations phone call. Mariah was very pleasant and informative. I was paying in cash, but expected I would still have to use the card to make the reservation, and didn't have to. Check-in was a breeze, but it was a torrental downpour outside. It was great that a good majority of the parking is covered. We stayed in a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom suite at quite a spectacular rate. The rooms are emaculently pristine, even down to the smallest utensil. Having the full kitchen is great and quite a money saver. The complimentary breakfast is quite the spread! They have plenty of variety to appeal to any taste. Didn't bring your beach towels? Don't worry, they are complimentary, and you can swap them out whenever you'd like. Grocery, drug, and other shopping is close-by. (One slight draw-back. You are limited to one parking spot per hotel room booked, but this wasn't a problem for us.)
THIS HOTEL IS SIMPLY AMAZING! « less

- Our family made this a stopover point on our way to the Florida Keys. We were not disappointed. The room was beautiful, the location was excellent. Our only complaint was there was not enough space for people to sit and enjoy breakfast. The food itself was good but we ended up in the reception area on couches due to lack of tables. The beach is wonderful but quite a hike from the hotel to shore. Overall we loved it and would return. « less

- My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying July 24-28th. I requested early check-in, but the room was not available when we arrived...not a problem. Before we completed our lunch at John's Pass and shopped at Publix, I received a call advising me that our room was ready. I have traveled extensively for both business and pleasure in the USA and abroad, and this hotel deserves a 4* rating. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which was well appointed and exceptionally clean. There is a private balcony adjancent both the living and bedroom. The views of the gulf are awesome. The breakfast was buffet, but more than adequate.... fruit, yogurt, bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, waffles, breakfast breads and danish. Waiting for the elevator was less no big deal, and while waiting and met and conversed with many other interesting and delightful guest. I plan to return « less
