- We just returned today, 2/6/2010....What a nice hotel - we were on the 6th floor with a gulf view. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is good. Room was very clean. Here are my tips.....take hair conditioner, or you will have to ask for it at the front desk since it's not routinely supplied. I don't think there is a whirlpool or spa - if there is, we never found it. The breakfast is the same every day (bagels, scrambled eggs - that may be reconstituted - potatoes, yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, oatmeal, waffles, sausage). It was good and the price was right (free), but we did eat at a restaurant instead a day or two for a change of pace. Bed was comfortable; pillows a bit too firm...The pool is great (heated), and the lounge chairs are in good condition. All of the hotels are a bit of a trek across the sand to get to the water, but this one is closer than some of the others and you don't end up looking right into another hotel from your room. I would definitely try to get an upper level room (4th floor or higher), and you get more sun on your balconies on the side not facing the pool. There is a small dishwasher in the kitchen, a full size refrigerator with ice maker, a microwave, and coffee maker. Flat panel t.v.'s (2).... the bathroom was probably the only "odd" space. There was no tub in it, just a very large shower and the toilet. That room has 2 doors, and adjacent to it is a small sink and vanity area with a good size closet. I would have designed the shower room to be smaller, and the sink/vanity room to be larger....A tub would have been nice for a relaxing bubble bath. I believe the 2 and 3 bdrm suites have tubs, but not the studio or 1 bedrooms. Also, the sink/vanity room is connected to the bedroom, so it does cut down on your privacy, and there is not much counter space. There is a heat/cool thermostat, so no constant monkeying around with trying to get your room to the right temp... Also, there is a dining table for 4. As for restaurants, we enjoyed Gigi's, and the Middle Grounds. We like to go antiqueing, and there are several shops up and down the coast, as well as in St. Pete (pick up a guide brochure in about any store or restaurant in the area). For a nice (casual) sunset dinner, go to Sloppy Joe's at the Bilmar Hotel...
That is about all I can think of - but I would highly recommend this hotel. Oh,the laundry room is nice, and there is an ATM on site....seemed to be a very safe area on the gulf. Business center is nothing more than a pc and printer in the lobby, but it was fine for printing our boarding passes for our flight. I'll try to upload some photos soon. « less Read management response to this review.
Thank you for your glowing review of our property. I wanted to confirm a few of your perceptions. Regarding the bathtubs, you are correct in that only our two and three bedroom suites will have tubs. We do not have a whirlpool or spa at this time. I am pleased to have read that you were able to take advantage of everything this area has to offer. There really is some great shopping close to the hotel, as well at downtown St. Petersburg and of course Tampa. Thank you so much for your business and please contact me directly when the time comes for you to return to us. We look forward to having you as one of our honored guests in the near future. Thank you for your kind words!

- I am writing this review a lot later than I intended too but I wanted to make sure that I recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone who is considering a stay on the Gulf Side.
Our stay at this property was wonderful. We stayed for 2 full weeks and I felt like we left our family when we checked out. The room was beautiful and clean. We utilized every bit of that suite for 14 nights, including the kitchen. The breakfast every morning was great, great selection, always hot and always replenishing the buffet. We went down late every morning and we were able to eat without any problems. The staff was very pleasant. The pool area was great, you could see the ocean and beach from the pool chairs and it was very pleasing to the eye. My biggest compliment goes to Jeremy (manager of the property). He is "customer service." I cannot put into words how wonderful he made our stay. He is friendly, accommodating, and professional. Our stay was great because of the accommodations but it was perfect because of the wonderful service we received from Jeremy. We will continue to vacation here because we love the area, the beach, the hotel rooms and Jeremy!

My significant other travels a lot for business and told me that RI is her favorite chain. I had never stayed at one before but I was convinced by this experience to book future accommodations at Residence Inns. « less Read management response to this review.

- I returned home from here yesterday and the first thing on my agenda was to write this letter to Marriott corporate, J.W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr., this morning. Here's the body of the letter: "I would like to commend your corporation, and in particular the Residence Inn Treasure Island, Florida, for your outstanding service to the public. I am a Marriott Platinum member, coming up on 400 nights staying at your facilities, and each and every time I have been treated as if I was part of the family and very special. I know this goes along with your theme of service to the public and you are to be commended for that. In particular, I wanted to bring to your attention Jeremy Rockmaker, General Manager of the Residence Inn Treasure Island, and his staff.
First, I found this location by searching for beach front locations in Florida and did further research as to how it was situated on the beach. One site I visited was Trip Advisor and read the reviews listed there. One visitor reported how great the hotel was and I was amazed that the manager had responded to the posting and thanked the person for the comments. His posting was followed by a Marriott employee from another hotel praising the Treasure Island manager for being so in tune with the comments of his visitors, that he actually read and responded to such postings.
Second, I met Mr. Rockmaker at the Manager’s reception there last week. To my knowledge, it’s the first time I’ve ever met one of Marriott’s managers. There were a couple of Marriott employees behind the bar and I noticed he had a different colored shirt on and guessed he might be the manager. I asked him if he responded to comments on Trip Advisor and he immediately said, “Yep, that would be me.” He told me he reads sites like Trip Advisor because he takes great pride in his hotel and wants to know what people think of it. I then praised him and his staff and told him I was going to write a letter to corporate about him. He told me not to write about him, but to write about his staff, the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, etc., everyone that actually made the hotel an excellent place to stay. Later that evening, Mr. Rockmaker performed 30 to 45 minutes worth of magic tricks for the children and they were also of high professional quality, even though I know that is not one of the requirements to work at Marriott. He kept children and adults very entertained and guessing at how he performed the tricks. After the reception was over, about 8 p.m., I saw Mr. Rockmaker wiping down the tables that had been used for the reception, getting them ready for breakfast the next morning. Amazing!!!!!!
Third, the staff is phenomenal too. They took such great pride in the hotel and it showed. My husband and I got on the elevator with a maintenance man and he very excitedly asked how we liked the hotel. We stated we loved it. He beamed and explained he had worked there for 15 years and he was very proud of it. On another occasion, two cleaning ladies we were on the elevator with asked us the same question and were genuinely excited about our response. The front desk personnel was also very helpful, personable, and genuinely interested in our responses also. The hotel was pristine and the whole staff is to be commented for their love of providing service to the traveling public!!!
Thanks for your leadership." « less Read management response to this review.
I am in absolute awe after reading your glowing letter that you wrote to Mr. Marriott. I would like to take this time to thank you thank you thank you so much. I have shared this letter with the entire staff, and we all had the largest smiles on our faces thanks to you. I am glad you were able to attend our social hour. We always have lots of fun when we get together for hor d'oeuvres, drinks, and magic! I am at a loss for words right now, as I am just flabbergasted and ecstatic with your perceptions of our beautiful property. We will continue to deliver the stellar service you spoke of and will look forward to your return. I would appreciate you contacting me when the time arises to book again with us. Thank you for your status and loyalty with Marriott and thank you for making all of our hard work here at the hotel something to be proud of.

- We stayed here for a wedding over MLK weekend. I was pleased with the room size, decor, cleanliness and view of the beach. The breakfast was very good as well and I'd stay here again if I were in the area. The area is fine, if a lesson in city planning gone on vacation (Dollar Store next to a Burger King next to the beach). One small complaint is that the sink area in the bathroom was not big enough to hold your toiletries. « less
