Overview
Location. The Hale Kua Bed and Breakfast offers a serene setting on the sunny south shore of Kauai island in the city of Lawai, Hawaii. The inn is positioned in a mountain setting 800 feet above sea level, and overlooks Mount Kahili, Lawai Valley and the ocean. Several beaches, including the Poipu and Spouting Horn Beach Parks, are available within 10 miles.
Features. This bed and breakfast, built in 1992, is set on eight acres of a developing arboretum filled with macadamia trees, tropical fruits and flowers. Continental breakfasts are available for a fee, and complimentary coffee is provided. This family-friendly bed and breakfast offers a play yard and a selection of toys and videos. The innkeepers keep horses and dogs on the property.
Guestrooms. Guest accommodations at Hale Kua Bed and Breakfast are completely self- contained, and feature private bathrooms and full kitchens with refrigerators and microwave ovens. Select rooms offer wraparound lanais. Cable television and VCRs are included. Barbeque grills and beach gear are provided in the units. Washers and dryers are included.
Expert Tip. The Spouting Horn Beach Park, located approximately seven miles from the property, derives its name from a lava tube that spouts sea water every few minutes. Hawaiian folklore contends that the water was once guarded by a lizard god, who was trapped in the lava tube by a clever fisherman, and hisses and roars from within the hole. The best time to visit the attraction is at sunset, when the spray reflects the colors of the rainbow.
