Overview
Location. Maison Des Amis is located in the historic district of downtown Breaux Bridge, La., adjacent to the 125-mile Bayou Teche River. The bed and breakfast is positioned less than two blocks from the center of town, and one block from antique stores, gift shops, restaurants and cafes. The dance club La Poussiere is approximately one-half mile from the bed and breakfast.
Features. This Creole/Caribbean style bed and breakfast features a circa 1810 two-room bousillage made from adobe mud and moss, said to be the oldest historic structure in town. Complimentary Cajun/Creole breakfasts are served at the bed and breakfasts’ acclaimed Cafe Des Amis. Complimentary beverages are provided throughout the day. The inn boasts landscaped grounds and a gazebo with rattan rocking chairs. A glassed-in porch and sunroom are furnished with wicker furniture. Concierge services are provided. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. The four guestrooms at the Maison Des Amis feature private bathrooms. Each room offers direct access to the porch, which overlooks the gardens and bayou. Louisiana designers Messieurs Peter Curry, Robert Smith and Joel Theriot designed and decorated the guestrooms. All accommodations feature high ceilings and old cypress long-leaf pinewood floors. Original art and antiques are showcased in each room.
Expert Tip. The Cafe Des Amis is housed in a historic building that was originally built as a one-story general merchandise store, circa 1890. In 1894, a fire broke out and afterwards a second story was added. Cafe´ Des Amis opened for business in 1992 and features menu items such as Crab Cakes, Lobster and Artichoke Bique, Pecan Crusted Trout Meuniere and Sweet Potato Bread Pudding.
