This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Please review my other contributions and you'll see I'm usually very pleased with accomodations and don't feel I'm a very demanding person. I was rudely greeted at check in but thought nothing of it, the elevator had a horrible smell and I ignored. However, when I checked into my "deluxe room" with a non smoking request I discovered that not only was it a smoking room but also had a musty odor and NO window. I've seen several large city hotels that have rooms without windows but ALL other than this one NOTE that the room has no window at the time of reservation. This hotel did not. The woman at the front desk advised me, "some rooms have windows and some do not but that doesn't change the price". There was also a large glass block wall between my room and the room next to me. I could not see thru it but everytime the lights in the room were on the light would shine into my room (even when the people in the room came back from Bourbon St at 1am). I called downstairs and was told that there were no other rooms available and I could not switch rooms. I tried for a while to deal with this but could not so I requested to switch rooms the next day for the last 3 nights of my stay and was told I could not switch rooms in the middle of a reservation. I cancelled the future nights on the reservation and spent the rest of the evening calling area hotels for an open reservation. The next morning I was advised I would have to pay $170 for the night instead of the $99 I booked since I was staying only one night and not the 4 booked nights but I didn't care as long as I was able to get out of the hotel. I was lucky to find a Hilton Garden Inn a few blocks away that was available and went there the next day and had a wonderful business/leisure trip after that. The people at the Hilton Garden Inn felt so bad when I told them about my experiences that they upgraded me for free.

One last thing, watch for the odd $7.95 mandatory resort fee that will be in fine print. What does your "resort fee" include, how about the amazing safe in your room, use of a fitness center and free long distance and local calls. Please notice the sarcasism as who cares about calls when everyone now has a cell phone and every other hotel in the city provides a safe and fitness center included in your stay! « less
