Ashley Manor

Location. Ashley Manor is located on Cape Cod in Barnstable, Mass., on Historic Olde Kings Highway. The Coast Guard Heritage Museum is one-half mile away. Village shops, art galleries and restaurants are one mile away. A fishing fleet and whale-watching tours at Barnstable Harbor are located one mile from the property.

Features. This historic Colonial-style home is set on two park-like acres featuring stately oak trees, lawns and gardens, a gazebo and tennis court. Complimentary breakfasts are served in the dining or at the backyard patio. Common rooms are furnished with antiques, oriental rugs and country furniture. The manor features fireplaces and a library. Complimentary cordials are offered each evening. Pets are not allowed at the property.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms and suites at the Ashley Manor offer private bathrooms, four-poster or canopy beds, and sitting areas. Suites feature jetted tubs, and all but one accommodation offer fireplaces. Cable television and complimentary wireless Internet access are provided. The rooms include imported bedside chocolates, designer toiletries, and coffee and tea service for early risers.

Expert Tip. The Ashley Manor was originally built in 1699, with many additions over the centuries. The home features original wide-board flooring, huge open-hearth fireplaces, including one with a beehive oven, and hand-glazed wainscoting throughout the inn. A secret passage connecting the upstairs and downstairs is thought to have once been a hiding place for Tories during the Revolutionary War.
