The Inn on Ferry Street is a historically registered collection of charming mansions in Detroit's cultural and university neighborhood. Detroit Institute of the Arts, Detroit Public Library and Wayne State University are each one block from the inn. Detroit Medical Center is also nearby. The Inn consists of four mansions and two carriage houses built in the Queen Anne style of the late 1800s. The charming character houses were beautifully refurbished for hospitality service in 2000. Each house carries a unique style under the name of its original proprietor, ranging from prominent Michigan architect John Scott, to Herman Roehm, 19th- century President of the Detroit Carriage Company. The first floor of each mansion boasts an elegantly designed parlor. Parlors may feature a baby grand piano, fireplace or dignified library. A grand staircase leads to the above guestrooms and suites. Guests rise each morning to a complimentary weekday newspaper over deluxe breakfast and coffee.
