Overview
The Arlington Heights Bed & Breakfast is located on a tree-lined street, nine blocks from the banks of the Mississippi River in Natchez, Miss. Settled in the Garden District, the inn is one block from Main Street shopping and three miles from the Natchez Mall.
This Georgian Revival mansion is surrounded by colorful camellias, azaleas, magnolias, dogwood trees, wisteria, live oak trees and a ginko tree. The inn features 12-foot ceilings, a Victorian-style interior and period antiques, reflecting the era of an 1890s Southern home. Full, complimentary breakfasts are served each morning, featuring Southern-style eggs, bacon and grits. An elevated back den, called the Treetops, overlooks a wilderness area, and offers satellite television with a VCR/DVD player, a wood-burning parlor stove and access to the kitchen. The parlor and dining room make up the great room. The dining area features a 19th-century Queen Anne dining set, and the parlor area offers a library with books on the history of Natchez and the South, tastefully upholstered furniture and a picture window framing a 100-year-old live oak tree.
Guestrooms feature antique furnishings and private bathrooms. The Mauve room offers an 1880s French, Henry II bed modified to accommodate a queen mattress and an antique claw-foot tub. The Blue room features a four-poster bed and a 1940s sit-down tub and shower.
