Plain & Fancy Bed & Breakfast

Location. The Plain & Fancy Bed & Breakfast is located two miles outside the town of Ironton, Mo., in the Arcadia Valley. The Mark Twain National Forest, located three miles from the bed and breakfast, offers scenic drives alongside spring-fed rivers and rocky bluffs. Main Street is within five miles, and offers antique and craft stores.
Features. Built in 1908, this two-story farmhouse features two patios furnished with Adirondack chairs and gliders overlooking Stouts Creek. Manicured lawns, hosta plants and perennial gardens surround the house. Complimentary full breakfasts are served each morning in the dining room, including the signature dish of apple walnut French toast. The parlor offers a DVD collection and puzzles. The ceilings on the first floor showcase antique patterned tin sheets. An outdoor pool, hot tub, fire pit and wedding gazebo are featured on the grounds. A creek runs behind the house, and can be viewed close up with a short walk to the Low Water Bridge. Pets are not allowed at this property.

Guestrooms. The Plain & Fancy Bed & Breakfast offers four guest accommodations with cable television, DVD players and complimentary high-speed Internet access. Units include private bathrooms with spa showers and jetted or soaking tubs. Bathrobes and complimentary bath soaps, lotions and oils are provided. The Red Hat Suite, decorated in red, pink, lavender and purple, offers a separate sitting room and access to a private porch. Scarlett's Hideaway includes a microwave oven and mini fridge stocked with bottled water and soda.

Expert Tip. This bed and breakfast is five miles from Missouri's highest point, Taum Sauk Mountain. The summit can be accessed via a rugged section of the Ozark Trail.
