Location. The Eldorado Hotel & Spa is located in downtown Santa Fe, N.M. The hotel is two blocks from the Santa Fe plaza, the Museum of Fine Arts and Palace of the Governors, where American Indians sell hand-made jewelry and crafts. The hotel is adjacent to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Palace of the Governors, with American Indians selling hand-made jewelry and crafts, is two blocks away.
Hotel Features. The Eldorado Court & Lounge serves breakfast and lunch daily. Drinks and live entertainment are offered nights at the Eldorado Court & Lounge. The Old House serves international cuisine with a Santa Fe flair. The Eldorado Hotel and Spa's exterior is made of stucco in traditional Santa Fe style. The hotel displays original Southwestern artwork and cactus throughout. The hotel has a heated rooftop pool and hot tub with views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The fitness center offers cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Nidah Spa features treatments made from indigenous New Mexico plants with healing properties. Saunas and professional massage therapy are available.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa feature Southwestern décor in deep coral, desert sky blue, cactus green and dark or natural wood tones. Rooms include two overstuffed chairs, tables and minibars. High-speed Internet access is available for a fee. Terry-cloth bathrobes and slippers are offered. Select rooms have wood-burning kiva fireplaces and terraces with city views are available in some rooms. Bathrooms include Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.

Expert Tip. Built at the beginning of the 17th century, Palace of the Governors exhibits, collects and archives artifacts from New Mexico's Spanish Colonial (1540-1821), Mexican (1821-1846), U.S. Territorial (1846-1912) and statehood (1912-present) periods. The Segesser Hide Paintings collection includes the first known depictions of Spanish colonial life in the United States.

Rooms were large and clean. Hotel is centrally located. However, the hotel is overpriced and the spa services are mediocre.

I stayed at the Eldorado Hotel because my sister won a trip. I upgraded our room to a deluxe for $80.00/nt. Do not go by the pictures on the website, they are very deceiving. Our second day there, directly after our wonderful massages at the Nidah Spa, there was an elevator incident that was quite frightening and had us stuck in the elevator for some 25 minutes or more. We were told by hotel management that they were going to take care of our spa treatments and schedule us new ones in addition, they were also going to cover the upgrade to our room. We seemed to come to an agreement and were quite happy about it, upon our checkout, the front desk clerk handed us our bill and told us that everything was taken care of per the hotel Manager. That is when I thought "this is a very classy hotel". Once home, as I was looking at my credit card bill, much to my surprise, they charged me for our spa treatments. I am still wrangling with the manager about it. I would not recommend this hotel to any of my business associates, nor would I recommend this hotel to family or friends. I would however recommend The Old House Restaurant and the Nidah Spa...They are very definitely in a class of their own. It's just a shame that they are affiliated with this particular hotel. By the way, the front dest clerks and the valet were very accomodating. The location of the hotel was within walking distance to all shopping and the decor was typical southwest. I wish I would have had a better experience. I will let all of you know how my discussions with the management goes. « less
