Overview
The Historic Taos Inn is located next to the Kit Carson Memorial State Park and two blocks from the Taos Plaza in the historic district of Taos, N.M. The inn is two blocks from the Bent House and Museum, Taos Center for the Arts, Taos Community Auditorium, and the Taos Art Museum and Fechin House.
This historic inn, easily recognized by its trademark neon thunderbird sign, is a compound made up of several 19th-century adobe houses surrounding a small plaza. The original plaza now houses a two-story lobby, featuring a fountain surrounded by vertical vigas rising two-and-one-half stories to a stained glass cupola. The inn offers breakfast, lunch and dinner at Doc Martin's Restaurant, which specializes in southwestern organic foods, incorporating locally grown chilis, fish and meats. The Adobe Bar, famous for its "Cowboy Buddha" margaritas, offers live entertainment every night. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby. Conference rooms, and fax and photocopy services are also available. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Southwestern-style guestrooms and suites at The Historic Taos Inn offer antique furnishings and cable television. Select rooms and suites feature seasonal, pueblo-style fireplaces, handpainted furniture, loveseats and armoires. Rooms are located in the inn's Main Building, the Sandoval House, the Courtyard Building and Helen's House.
