Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort

In the Sangre de Christo Mountains along the Rio Pueblo River, the Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort in Vadito, N.M., is surrounded by the Pecos Wilderness and Carson National Forest, an ideal escape for people who want plenty of outdoor adventure and to separate themselves from the world for a few days. Twenty scenic miles from Taos, N.M., a cultural haven southwestern of museums, art galleries, restaurants and shops, Sipapu offers varied terrain with 41 named trails and 2 terrain parks for downhill skiing, snowboarding, snow-biking and cross-country skiing-and lessons for adults and children. The resort offers free slope side lodging with the purchase of a $39 lift ticket. However, black out dates may apply. Children under the age of six, 4th graders, forty years old’, and people over the age of 70 may ski for FREE. Active military may ski for free too with ID. However, black out dates do apply so check with the front desk for more information. In the summer, the resort becomes Sipapu Disc Golf Course-traditional golf but with Frisbees. During fall and summer, outdoor adventure includes fly-fishing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, rafting, rock climbing, motorcycle rallies, and arts and crafts fairs.

The resort hosts corporate gatherings, retreats, family reunions and weddings for up to 260 people. The Sipapu Grill serves everything from burgers and fries to authentic New Mexican specialties, while Olive’s General Store & Gifts offer guests 22 flavors of homemade fudge.

The resort’s accommodations just steps from the ski lifts include duplexes, apartments, family-style cabins, mobile homes, a park for recreational vehicles, suites, traditional hotel guestrooms, dorm-style living with room for 12, and a campground.

The Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort on Highway 518 is 60 miles from Sante Fe, N.M., through the Rio Grande Valley and past numerous Pueblo Indian villages and pine covered hillsides.
