Overview
The Weatherbury Farm is set on over 100 acres of farmland in Avella, Pa. Meadowcroft, a 19th-century village museum that includes one of the oldest archaeological sites in North America, is located less than six miles from the bed and breakfast.
This property is set on a working farm with goats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, geese, sheep and cattle. Full, complimentary breakfasts are served daily in the former livery. The farm’s historic buildings are decorated with hand-stenciled walls, farm keepsakes and original fir flooring. A telephone and television are provided in the common areas. The Weatherbury Farm boasts a heated outdoor pool, and book and video libraries. Croquet is available for playing on the lawn. The innkeepers invite children to help with the daily chores, enjoy the playground, visit the on-site blacksmith forge and play in the Kids’ Corner, which provides games, puzzles and toys. Children who stay for two or more nights can complete farm chores and learn with a picture worksheet or workbook for an "Official Weatherbury Farm Kid" certificate. Pets are not allowed.
The farm’s guestrooms and suites are located in various buildings, including an 1870s Italianate farmhouse, summer kitchen and livery stable. Accommodations feature antique, country-style furnishings, including knick knacks, gingham and floral bedding, and original hardwood floors. All units include private bathrooms, some with claw-foot bathtubs and pull-chain toilets. Mother’s Sewing Room and the Mews Suite are equipped with mini fridges. Select rooms are enhanced by cathedral ceilings, working fireplaces and private decks.
