- Wife and I live in Austin, but stayed here for a one night get-away from our kids. Wife used the spa. I just hung out at pool. Our rate included a breakfast. Did not golf other than hitting a few balls on the driving range. We stayed in the cheaper room... not sure what name they gave it.
I consider this place to be basically equivalent in quality and clientele to a Hill Country Hyatt or Hyatt Lost Pines (or other Hyatt resorts I have stayed in), though without as many of the amenities.
Rooms:
The rooms were ver nice, comfortable, spacious, clean, but standard and notthing special nor particularly inspired, if you are someone looking for something trendy/quaint. Very good sleep, halls quiet at night and we were on the lobby level. Think hard about room upgrades... all rooms are in one rectangular building and for most, my suspicion is that the only differentiator is how high the floor is, with higher floors offering a better view with less obstructrion by trees/pool-house on lower floors. Except for the uber nice rooms on the top floors, balconies appeared to be really just a railing behind a door that opens; not something you can really walk out on to... so we were happy we went with the cheap room. I didn't see a single person using their "balcony" although it was 100+ outside.
Breakfast Buffet
Very good. Lots of choices and good quality, well-stocked.
Pool Scene
This is where the casualness of the place becomes apparent. There are lots of people with kds, and there is a baby pool. The pool deck is kind of a party seen... the hotel hosts lots of destination weddings, so the wedding crowds party by day at the pool, and it is crowded and you have to search for a chair. So it wasn't necessarily relaxing or posh, but there was decent people watching (if you like watching tipsy 30- and 40-something people having a good time). Their is very attentive wait service for food and drink. On Sunday, when the wedding crowds are gone/hungover, the pool is very nice and relaxing.
Other
My, who has been to lots of nice spas, found this one average, uninspired. The resort has a neat little miniature golf course for kids/families. They let me use the driving range free of charge, even though I didn't have a tee time; even let me drive a cart to get to it, and use the unlimited free balls and tees.
Overall, just a laid back, Texas-ee beer drinking feel. « less

- Among the hotels and resorts in the Western U.S., there are only a few truly enduring institutions. The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs may be one, the Fairmont in San Francisco another. The Barton Creek is not quite yet in this top echelon but it does offer a unique mix of culture, service, spaciousness, variety, scenery, and activities. In the spacious lobbies, meeting room areas, and restaurants, you are as likely to meet a deadline-driven business traveller on the cutting edge of high tech as a leisurely retiree who is an avid golfer or a family with 5 kids who are thrilled with their mini-vacation. You can take a tour through the past 100 years of Texas history just by wandering past the many framed photographs and artifacts in the public areas. The scenery from the hotel is spectacular and the location is unbeatable for accessing the City of Austin, the surrounding Hill Country, or both. This hotel and resort is well worth a look. Check out their website and sign up for their email specials. We'll be back at the 1st opportunity. « less

Many thanks to this past guest who obviously enjoyed the very unique setting of the resort along with how the interiors have been carefully designed over the past two decades. Looking forward to some incredible Fall Golf as we near the end of Summer.

- My stay at the resort was fantastic from start to finish. First, the view from my hotel room was so pretty! Looking out at the hills and golf course was very relaxing. The best part, of course, was the spa treatments. I had THE BEST massage! The facial and pre-spa ritual were amazing too. I don't think there was anything to complain about, except maybe the parking! Everything from the room service to the room itself was a pleasant experience. I'm ready to go back! « less

The Three Springs Spa at Barton Creek continues to receive very positive reviews on the quality of spa treatments. The new "spa ritual" which guests enjoy in the unique Tranquility Lounge is highly popular. Come and experience for yourself as this past guest did.

- I have stayed at Barton Creek Resort multiple times. It has always met or exceeded my expectations. Just an example of their 5 star service-locked my keys in the vehicle on arrival with car running. They had them out in 15 min while I explored the resort with my family. Charge was $15. Rooms are fantastic. Many planned activities for the kids. Resort is in great shape. Highly recommend. Keep an eye on their website for deals. « less
