- My husband and i have struggled to find vacation spot for our 14 month old. This place was great. The suite style room was wonderful and our view of the lake and pool couldn't be beat! The staff was wonderful. I had a cake delivered to the hotel for my husbands birthday while we were out on a boat. The staff placed it in the room with plates, forks and a cake server. The pools are wonderful and my son loved the kid pool as well as floating on the lazy river in his raft. We rented a boat and it was very easy. My husband and friends enjoyed the challenging golf course. We ate room service, breakfast and dinner at the main restaurant. Service was great and the food was very good. Overall great experience. This place definetly needs to be marketed more to the Austin area. « less

- I just spent 2 nights here for a girlfriend’s getaway weekend and it was wonderful. The resort itself was pretty, clean, and the employees were always nice and respectful. The pool area was great and had plenty of locations to choose from – the main ‘adult’ pool, the one with the slides, the lazy river, the kids area, and the hot tubs. We had the breakfast buffet where there was a wide variety of food to choose from – including a Texas Eggs Benedict (brisket and biscuit instead of ham and English muffin). The only small complaint we could come up with was that the air conditioner unit in the room was kind of loud. I will definitely go back and will recommend it to any of my friends or family. « less

Dear galvkaren,
We are so glad you and your girlfriends enjoyed your weekend at La Torretta! The Aqua Park is definitely one of our most popular amenities for familes and groups alike. Next time you take a girls' weekend, you'll have to try out a signature massage or facial at Spa Terre. It's heaven!

- My wife and I celebrated our birthdays with a dinner at Chez Roux and an overnight stay a tower suite. Our housekeeper brought our young kids up the next day to play in the pool while I played golf with friends.
We valeted our car, checked in and were in our rooms in under five minutes. I heard from friends that there was a line earlier in the day to valet cars, but not at the time (around 5.45pm) that we arrived.
This was our fourth visit to Chez Roux since it opened, so you can guess that we are fans. Quite simply the best food in Texas, flawless service, a great wine list at every price and a beautiful setting (once you are inside - I am not a fan of the building exterior design) overlooking the lake. If you have not had Albert Roux's souffle - either the cheese starter or the sweet desert - it is something for everyone's bucket list.
Stopped off for a night-cap in the main bar. The pianist was happy to take requests - it was mostly showtunes and American classics such as Gershwin which suits me fine. A good but not outstanding collection of single malts and the waitress knew them all without having to check a menu which was impressive. I had the Macallan 18 and my friend the Lagavulin 16.
I love the rooms at La Torretta. Luxriously appointed with great views. More importantly my wife loves them.
This was the first time that our kids had joined us at the resort - on previous occasions we had been totally selfish about the weekend! Reading other comments it may be good that they waited because the main attraction for them was the water park and it seems that now everything is operational there. They would have stayed all week given the option. It was not too busy, so my wife found shade easily, but I think that they could still provide a few more parasols.
The golf course is still a work in process. It is basically a very good track, and now with four sets of tees to help golfers of all ability. Very tight on the front nine, it opens out on the back nine, but you have to contend with water in key places so most holes require quite a lot of thought and planning off the tee rather than just hitting the ball as far as you can. New tee boxes are good, but the old ones need replacing as soon as they can get it done. Similar story with the greens - some perfect, others in need of work. I guess that the golf course is the last part of the resort to get a face-lift. But I enjoyed the round, and only donated one ball to the course!
We had lunch in the main dining room. Simple fare - a club sandwich for two of us, fish (I forget what) and curry wraps for two - compared to Chez Roux, but probably just as well. A friend picked up the tab so I forget the cost, but around $10 for the club sandwich, which was huge,so reasonable value. We spoilt ourselves with some champagne to celebrate the end of the weekend, and I thought that $48 for a bottle of Roederer was pretty good by restaurant standards, especially resort standards.
Overall a fabulous weekend. The resort looks great in photos, but actually better when you get there. The big draw for us is Chez Roux, but I would definitely take the kids back for the pool on Sunday. « less Read management response to this review.
Dear paulinlondon2002,
Happy belated birthdays! Thank you so much for the great (and detailed) review! We really value our repeat guests such as you and your wife. Have you signed up to receive our e-mail offers? You can receive special deals on your next stay, and even be informed of the next time Chef Albert Roux himself will be in town! As fans of Chez Roux, we might also suggest our new series of Chez Roux cooking classes beginning in October.
As fun as it is to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend just the two of you, it's great that you were able to bring the kids out to enjoy the Aqua Park! We're sure they appreciated it :) We do realize that the Texas sun tends to beat down, which is why we are working toward getting more shade and umbrellas at the pool area. Hopefully by next summer there will be plenty of shady areas to escape the heat.
The golf course is another area where we are working to improve. As it was comepletely redesigned just 2 years ago, it is a matter of time for it to settle and for landscaping to mature.
Again, we appreciate your feedback and look forward to seeing you and your family at La Torretta again soon!

- My husband and I needed a little time alone away from all the daily routine so we went to spend the weekend at La Torretta. We have a boat on Lake Conroe so we docked it at the marina. Friday night we had dinner at Chez Roux - absolutely delicious, romantic and fun. Starbucks run in the morning on the boat. Hung out by the pool - the big pool had no kids but our favorite one was the one with the slides. It was so fun. Had dinner at the Sushi bar on Saturday night. Fresh and delicious. Breakfast buffet was also terrific - the berries and vanilla yogurt were such a treat. Sat out by the pools again and had lunch at CocoCove. Very good snacks. All in all it was a great little getaway for the two of us. Views from our room were great. Room was lovely, clean, elegant and very comfortable. Slept like a baby both nights. We'll be back soon. « less

- Stayed there for 3 nights and wish we could have stayed for one more. It was an 8 hour drive for us, but it was worth it. I found the suite to be very roomy and nice. The pool area was fantastic and had something for everyone (not much shade though). I only ate breakfast at the resort and it was very good for a breafast buffet (kids under 5 free). We also rented a boat slip, which was reasonable and easy to do ($25/day). I found the lake. however, to be fairly rough with the boat wakes. Skiing and knee-boarding was nearly impossible to do (tubing was possible). I would go back.... « less

Dear kld1972,
Thank you for traveling the 8 hours from New Orleans to visit La Torretta on Lake Conroe and for sharing your feedback with others! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. We know it gets very hot in Houston with that Texas sun, and we are working on getting umbrellas for more shade in the pool area, so the next time you come see us we will make your stay even better than before!
