Overview
The Inn at Essex is a 120-room country hotel set on eighteen acres in a picturesque Vermont setting. The hotel provides access to a variety of outdoor activities, including clay court and indoor tennis, golf, heated outdoor swimming pool, children's playground, and, on Friday and Saturday evenings, a bonfire pit. The Inn at Essex is an Orvis-endorsed fishing resort. Five ski resorts are located within fifty-two miles. Indoors, more than eight thousand square feet of meeting space houses banquets or weddings for up to three hundred people. Guests may browse the lobby library twenty-four hours a day.
Home of the New England Culinary Institute, the Inn at Essex provides gourmet and casual dining. Butler's Restaurant features three-course contemporary American dinners and Sunday brunch buffet. Butler's offers a private dining room for up to fourteen guests. The Tavern provides a more casual selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees.
Each of the 120 guestrooms is individually decorated in a Colonial style, with warm earth tones, wooden furnishings and quilted beddings. Many rooms feature gas fireplaces, Hearthstone stoves or kitchenettes. Modern amenities include work desks with computer data ports and high-speed Internet access. This is a smoke-free property.
Expert Tip:
Guests may enroll in the Chef 'Inn' Training interactive cooking class, which is hosted by chefs from the New England Culinary Institute. With the chef's assistance, guests learn professional techniques and gourmet recipes in creating their own three-course dinner. (Additional fee applies.)
