Overview
The Hockman Manor House Bed and Breakfast is nestled in the Shenandoah Valley on the north fork of the Shenandoah River in Edinburg, Va. The inn offers views of the George Washington National Forest. Antique shopping, flea markets and wineries are located less than two miles away. The Bryce Resort offers golf and downhill skiing 19 miles away.
This historic Italianate home, built in 1868, is set on four-and-one-half acres surrounded by mountains, gardens and woods. The front porch offers sunset views and two decks in the back overlook the river and the Edinburg Gap. Complimentary family-style breakfasts are served on the back deck, dining room or in the guestrooms each morning. The inn’s signature dish is a Tomato Cheese Tart, made with mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, olive oil and fresh herbs baked in a flaky crust. Early morning coffee and tea are also offered. A canoe is provided for guests’ use when the river is at an appropriate level. In-room massages are available upon request for a fee. Pets are not allowed at this property.

The Heritage Room offers a curved wood bed in the Victorian style, two armchairs and a private bathroom. Decorated in a whimsical fashion with bird cages and birdhouses, the Bird Cage Room shares a bathroom in the hall. The Edinburg Gap Room features a canopy wrought-iron bed surrounded by billowing off-white panels, a sitting area and a private bathroom in the hall with a secret stairway to the third-floor widow’s walk. The Shenandoah Suite offers a gas fireplace, four-poster cherry bed, wicker chairs, table, loveseat, French doors opening onto a private deck overlooking the river and forest, and a private bathroom in the room. The suite also offers a wet bar with a sink and mini fridge stocked with complimentary beverages. The Edinburgh Gap Room and Bird Cage Room are adjoining, and can be booked together to make a suite.
