Killahevlin

Location. Killahevlin is located in Front Royal, Va., looking out to the Blue Ridge Mountains and George Washington National Forest. Antique shops, museums and historical monuments dedicated to the town’s role in the Civil War are within two miles of the inn. Shenandoah National Park, two miles away, offers over 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
Features. Built in 1905, this Edwardian-style mansion is nestled on a Civil War encampment site, and features a veranda, porches and gazebos looking out to the tree-lined grounds, distant mountains and forests. Complimentary full breakfasts are served each morning in the dining room, featuring Eggs Killahevlin, which consists of two poached eggs and Canadian bacon topped with a hollandaise sauce and served atop a Belgian waffle. The property’s private Irish Pub features complimentary wine and beer on tap. The inn features transom stained-glass windows and French doors. Pets are not allowed at this property.

Guestrooms. The Killahevlin offers four guestrooms in the main house and two suites in the Tower House. Main house accommodations provide private bathrooms with jetted or claw-foot tubs. Units include working fireplaces with original mantels. Accommodations feature mountain or forest views. Three of the guestrooms showcase four-poster beds. Complimentary sherry and home-baked cookies are offered in the rooms upon arrival. Chocolate turndown service is provided. Iced champagne and sparkling cider are available in the rooms upon request.

Expert Tip. Shenandoah National Park, located two miles from the property, contains one of the densest populations of black bears in the United States.
