- We booked this vacation rental about 2 weeks before taking our vacation. We were supposed to go to Florida but when that fell through we found this through tripadvisor and booked it online and got an excellent price. We wanted to go to Busch Gardens/Water Country and Williamsburg Historical area. It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with living room, dining room and fully loaded kitchen. It will comfortably sleep 6 with 2 people on the living room pull out sofa. We traveled with our two sons, 13 & 11 and daughter 5. The check-in was quick and efficient, the suite was very clean with everything we needed for our stay (including very nice smelling shampoo & conditioner according to my daughter) Pool and mini golf area was very nice and my kids absolutely loved, loved the free use of the great arcade area. This came in very handy when there were thunderstorms and the pool and water park was closed. Although apparently these were time shares we were never approached about sitting through a sales pitch which was also very nice because we wouldn't have anyway. What we did not really like was the fact that there problems with the internet connection in our room. I have a home based business and although I was on vacation I still need to check in once a day to respond to correspondence and issues that come up. This was a problem for me. I did have to utilize the computer access that they had available at the recreation house. But there was only a 30 minute limit. I really wish I could have worked on my laptop at night in our room. Overall this was a minor glitch and they did send someone to fix it as soon as I reported it but it kept going down anyway maybe because of all the passing storms. The other thing was the matresses where a little soft and not great. Overall the place was very nice and clean, Although we know there were other guests in the other units we never heard them (and we hope they did not hear us either) the staff pleasant and maintenance responded very quickly to minor issue that arose. A very nice stay and I would recommend to anyone. They had something for everyone in my family. Very nice. I highly recommend it. « less

- We were only here one night but the rooms were incredible. My husband and I were passing through and wanted to visit Williamsburg before returning to CA. We happened to pick the hottest day of the year to visit Williamsburg. However, the stay at Wyndham made the trip that much more enjoyable. We did get to swim in the two outdoor pools and enjoy the room as much as we could. We stayed in a two bedroom two bath room on the third floor (bldge 31) away from most the noise or traffic. We could hear nothing. When you walk into the room there is a long entry which opens up to a living room decorated in the colonial area. We had vaulted ceilings with a high ceiling fan. The room was a cool 68 degrees which was fine for us as it was over 100 outside. To the right at the end of the living room was a full size dinning room and nicely decorated as well. To the right of that was a fully stocked kitchen with plates and cooking appliances. There were two large bedrooms one with a king size bed and a sitting area. The other bedroom had a queen size bed and a large mirrored closet. Each room had a tv for your privacy. There were two full size bathrooms nicely equipped. It was just for the night and we were sorry we didn't have the rest of our family with us. Hopefully we can return for a longer stay with family. « less

- My husband and in-laws decided to stay at the Wyndham Kingsgate. It was in a great location, and the 2-bedroom condos weren't a bad size, however, forget taking a hot/warm shower. My husband called maintenance to complain about the water temperature, and we were told to run the shower for at least 15 minutes before getting in!!! 15 minutes, ridiculous! However, that didn't seem to matter, so we continued to take cold showers all week. (I feel that this is a huge waste of time and water, so I'd say the hotel isn't environmentally friendly.)
As for the cleanliness, I wasn't impressed or grossed out. I felt that the carpets needed to be replaced (looked a little dirty), and some of the appliances could be updated, but at least all of them worked. The beds were a bit uncomfortable, unless you like to sleep on a hard board, but at least they were clean.
Also, be prepared to bring your own towels to the pool, especially at night, as the one time we didn't bring towels down, the hotel didn't have any to offer us (nor were they getting more that day).
The gym was nice, and so was the adult pool. We also enjoyed the tennis courts. The staff was friendly, except for Judy who was a little pushy (but still friendly). « less

- We are experienced timeshare travelers and own several timeshares including Disney, Marriott & Wyndham. This Wyndham property is subpar and that is being generous. We own at Wyndham Bonnet Creek and you could not compare the two resorts. The Kitchen at Kingsgate is not fully stocked, they can learn from Marriott who leaves a inventory check list in the kitchen. The game room that you are charged $35 for at check in has many broken games and we found it to be crowded and not worth the money. The pool is over crowded and dirty with many unattended children running around. We chose to use our bounce pass to go to Water Country 4 seperate days during our 7 night stay. I can't say enough good things about the Bounce Pass, Water Country and Busch Gardens, two thumbs up. Wyndham Kingsgate has a long way to go and I will never stay here again. Also beware of the timeshare presentation, do not accept the gift prior to the tour or you will be locked in with no way out. « less

- For the same price as one of the hotels in the Williamsburg area you can stay in Kingsgate and get a 2 bedroom apartment with a dining room, full kitchen, living room and 3 televisions. Also included in the $5 daily activity fee (mandatory) is the use of 3 pools ( a bit smallish but great for the kids), fitness room (not so state of the art), miniature golf and movies. Wi-fi in every apartment. Rental can be nightly. The full rate is quite expensive but if you make your reservation less than 60 days in advance, the rate is discounted by 50%; however, this also means that you may not have exactly the dates or number of nights available that you want. I had initially contacted them about 3 months in advance and they were willing to mark the dates I wanted and contact me when the discount went into effect - very considerate and unusual I thought. Location is 5 minutes from the Williamsburg visitor center.
I've stayed in self-catering units in Canada and many European countries and I would rate this among the best I've ever stayed at. « less
