Posting Guidelines

We hope the conversations that take place on Resideo will be energetic, constructive, free-wheeling, and provocative. To make sure we all stay on-topic, all posts will be reviewed by our editors and may be edited for clarity, length, and relevance. Here's what to do...

Make it better

Resideo thrives when everybody helps to improve biased or inaccurate information, fix problems, correct grammar, add facts, make sure the wording is accurate, etc. So jump right in and help make Resideo the best hotel source on the Internet.

Properly categorize your contributions.

In other words, make sure your comments "fit" the section you are editing and don't add content here that obviously better fits another section or category. Off-topic or irrelevant content will be removed.

Enlighten and entertain.

Provide information you would find useful as a traveler and have some fun with your submissions. You don't have to be a wordsmith but complete, grammatically correct sentences are always appreciated. Also, don't worry about making a mistake. We store copies of everything and can easily revert back if necessary.

Be honest and balanced.

Tell us how you really feel. We want your honest appraisal, however, we do ask that you carefully consider any negative comments you might have. If you didn’t like something, that’s ok, tell us, just try to be balanced.

Be respectful and friendly.

Resideo contributors come from many different backgrounds and have widely different views. Treating others with respect is key to collaborating effectively, so be civil and avoid making personal attacks or sweeping generalizations. Remember, these are conversations in which we debate ideas - so criticize the idea, not the people behind them. We will remove submissions containing profanity, obscene remarks, telephone numbers, email addresses, last names and those written entirely in ALL CAPS.

Don't vandalize.

Vandalism is any addition, deletion, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of the information. Before editing or deleting someone else's contribution, stop, think and consider the other side's point of view. If you find a mistake correct it, but if you simply disagree with the other contributor think twice before simply deleting it. Rather, consider balancing it with your side of the story or leaving a comment.

Use your own words or give proper credit.

Resideo respects the copyrights and intellectual property of others, and we ask our users to do the same.

Don't use Resideo for commercial purposes.

No selling of products of services. Let's keep this an ad-free zone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Submissions

Do you moderate readers' submissions?
Sometimes; but as little as possible. Our goal is to maintain an intelligent and informed exchange among readers. Our policy is to respect your opinion but if your judgment as to what constitutes substantive commentary for a general readership proves to be poor, we'll moderate your submission. Moderating decisions are subjective and we make them as carefully and consistently as we can. Resideo has a neutral point of view and we don't remove comments based on whether they are positive or negative - both are equally welcome on our site provided they are on-topic and not abusive. Because of the volume of reader comments, we cannot review individual moderation decisions with readers and generally cannot alter a comment once it is posted.

What kind of submissions are you looking for?
We value thoughtful comments representing a range of views that make their point quickly and politely. A few things we won't tolerate: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, fake reviews and impersonations, incoherence and posting in ALL CAPS (considered shouting).

Should I use my real name when posting?
Yes, definitely. Please fill in your real name or initials and your hometown when posting a comment. We don't feel this personally identities you in a way that compromises your privacy and have found that people who use their names carry on more engaging, respectful conversations. Your email address is also required to publish comments but is never revealed to the public or shared with third parties. You should not, however, post personal information (yours or anyone else's) including last names, phone numbers and email addresses in the body of your comment. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

When and where will my post be displayed?
Comments are displayed on the page you published them. We reserve the right to display comments throughout the site and in our newsletter, blogs and advertisements.

Do you edit submissions?
When it comes to editing copy, we aim for a very light touch -- focusing mainly on clarity of information, not sanitizing style. Occasionally we'll correct an atrocious spelling, punctuation or grammatical error, but that's about it.

Can I edit my submission?
You can edit your comment until another member comments on it. After that, any comments you make will appear under your comment as an "author's reply".

What about criticism?
We welcome strong opinions and criticism, but we don't want comments to become bogged down and we will moderate accordingly. Remember, when you post on Resideo you are inviting critique and peer review of your comments. Reviewers will be as kind or as harsh as they see fit.
