Resideo collaborates with new Green Skills Academy in Manchester
Resideo is delighted to be collaborating with the new Green Skills Academy, which has now opened its doors in Trafford Park, Greater Manchester. Newly launched in January, it will help provide industry training to students and installers based in the North of England*, to help build their knowledge of the latest energy efficient and low carbon technology.
Resideo has been involved with one of the key elements of the Green Skills Academy – a full-sized, low-energy model house. The house has been designed to show how energy efficient products work in a real-world environment. It means attendees can not only see how individual low carbon products are installed but, crucially, how they operate with other elements as part of a complete, efficient heating system.
For instance, Resideo’s Honeywell Home evohome thermostat is being installed alongside a heat recovery and cooling system, to help demonstrate how to fit a full system correctly to ensure the best result.
Furthermore, the Resideo Academy will be working with the Green Skills Academy to provide industry training to students, as well as providing additional upskilling to installers. It has provided Resideo products to equip the training booths with the latest in energy-efficient heating control technology, as well as the company's latest smart products, CO and smoke alarms, and security kits.
The Resideo Academy has also sponsored and donated equipment to the Green Skills Academy classroom workshop, where attendees can get first-hand experience of thermostats, CO monitors and valves, and learn more about essential wiring and installation requirements.
Based in the former Challenge 4 Change indoor training centre in Trafford Park, the Green Skills Academy is the first of its kind in the UK. It boasts innovative technology to provide comprehensive training for those starting out in the plumbing and heating industry, and opportunities to upskill for those further along in their career. Offering a wide range of courses plus space for manufacturers, like Resideo, to host their own courses, the centre has a capacity to train up to one hundred learners per day.
The Resideo Academy will host its first training course in the new facility on 8 February 2023, where the fully booked session will cover S and Y wiring plans.
